Age edit
There is contradictory information on the official Sudan website [1]. One section says: A boat inhabited by the memory of the King Fouad who received it as a gift in 1885; while another says: Almost one hundred years old - the latter would be consistent with the wiki listed build date of 1921.
Also, the boat is clearly not a stern-wheel paddle - the images clearly show side-wheel paddles. Fig (talk) 15:15, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Does this ship have two pages? edit
I see this is the PS Sudan, the ship used in Death on the Nile. This page ( SS Sudan ) is about the same ship, isn't it? Regards, Otto1943 (talk) 23:06, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Not used for Death on the Nile (1978 film) edit
Contrary to what is stated in severall Wikipedia articles, the Sudan cannot be seen in the 1978 film. However, it was used in the 2004 TV-series episode. I tried to correct this, but got into trouble with de footnote system. Can anyone help me? My source is here --Judithcomm (talk) 12:53, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

- I've seen both films, and the ships look completely different on the outside. Follow the link above and you can see the difference for yourself. So unless there are some interior scenes of the 1978 film shot on the PS Sudan, Suchet must be misinformed. Can you tell me the exact words from the book, please? I would find it very hard to believe that the superior PS Sudan would only be used for it's interior. --Judithcomm (talk) 23:14, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Page 215: "She would certainly have enjoyed the fact that, for the SS Karnak, we used the same river-steamer that had appeared in Peter Ustinov's all-star film version of the story in 1978," So, either he's mistaken or the ship was altered during the refit in 2000, hence the different appearance.Coq87rouge (talk) 22:32, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for this info! I'm still not convinced, though. The ships are simpy too different, especially in size. And I suspect that most, if not all interior shots are filmed in a studio; for both films. --Judithcomm (talk) 08:12, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
