Re: "Orkin to reapply termite treatment to Missouri homes under terms of record consumer settlement with Nixon" - [41]- Is it necessary to still include this comment if there's a dead link to the source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by En4588 (talkcontribs) 22:38, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why does it record in 1961 that Paul Hardy was employed part-time? He is not otherwise mentioned, nor does it appear to be significant to the company.

Good question. Paul Hardy is a Senior Technical Director with Orkin, and he's been with the company for more than 40 years. He is very well respected in the pest control industry, having won numerous awards and accolades. Mcraft51802 14:51, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

the lawsuits are from a site dedicated to "non-toxic pest control". doesnt this make it a biased source 24.17.211.150 (talk) 08:17, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

The following sentence: "Orkin has been the subject of many lawsuits around the country over recent years for alleged faulty service and slipshod practices - charges that plague a whole industry characterized by marginally educated, poorly paid technicians who are often alleged to be improperly trained and poorly monitored" contains statements after the dash that appear to paint an entire industry with a broad brush, don't they? At the very least, they editorialize, and make allegations that aren't supported by the links footnoted at the end of the graf. Jaxong (talk) 23:26, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I made a change (deleted "charges that plague ... trained and poorly monitored"). Jaxong (talk) 15:58, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Part of this article reads like the Orkin website, and the other part seems just the opposite. I think this needs to be rewritten. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.38.125.134 (talk) 02:13, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

The link for citation 44 doesn't work (parked website), so I'm deleting it. UrbanHaiku (talk) 18:39, 2 November 2011 (UTC)UrbanHaikuReply

I had been acting as an independent paid consultant and didn't understand all of the disclosures I needed to make in order to comply with Wikiedia best practices for paid editors and editors with Conflicts of Interest. I hope to help bring this entry into compliance so please let me know what I can do and how I can help. Chrisabraham (talk) 21:03, 22 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The article is stuffed with puffery and promotion, I have however lost the will to help out here, as others are being paid for it. Theroadislong (talk) 22:00, 22 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Some Proposed Changes

edit

* Specific text to be added or removed: "Orkin is an American company that provides residential and commercial pest control services." * Reason for the change: We are an international company. Not solely American. Change to: "Orkin is an international company providing residential and commercial pest control services across more than 400 locations and franchises in more than 65 countries."

Company is based in the U.S., so "American" seems fine. Also, not interested in updating per company website. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:40, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

* Specific text to be added or removed: "Orkin has held research collaborations with universities around the country and with organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) dating back to 1990 for pest biology research and pest-related disease studies." * Reason for the change: For conciseness, change to: "Orkin partners with universities across the U.S. and with organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on pest biology research and pest-related disease studies."
