EvDef (talk) 08:33, 13 June 2008 (UTC) To my opinion, the fluid in the ORC has to have a LOW latent heat. The lower the vaporisation heat, the less heat has to be added from the heat source to the fluid, the more fluid that can be heated, the higher the mass flow of the fluid can be and with this the turbine power output. The target is not that the fluid has to absorb as much heat as possible, but that the cycle loops with the lowest amount of heat.Reply

Dagordon01 (talk) 13:20, 24 June 2008 (UTC) Just found a company that uses the Rankin Cycle for solvent recovery from vapor streams (Edwards Engineering Corp.). Want to add this, but don't have time right now.Reply

The Rankine cycle does not restrict the working fluid in its definition, so the inclusion of an “organic” cycle is simply a marketing concept that should not be regarded as a separate thermodynamic cycle (JLillard). SChalice 00:50, 31 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

'an “organic” cycle is simply a marketing concept that should not be regarded as a separate thermodynamic cycle.' I second that.Wikibearwithme (talk) 19:10, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Choice of the working fluid edit

There is a long discussion but no examples. I think pentane is sometimes used. Can anyone confirm this? Biscuittin (talk) 10:33, 2 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

They use isobutane, or refrigerants such as R-134a. Not sure about pentane. I can ask someone. 12.184.250.10 (talk) SChalice 18:32, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Sundstrand Energy Systems built an Organic Rankine cycle silent power plant, 1.5 kW, 28 Vdc using CP-25 (toluene) as the working fluid. SChalice 19:13, 1 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Found one!   - 1.0 MWe Ormat-Solargenix pentane plant SChalice 22:18, 1 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I have added it to the article. Biscuittin (talk) 11:07, 2 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

yse you are right

Here is a patent with methylene chloride as the working fluid patent 6,233,938. BTW I embeded their search into my wiki. Its trick. SChalice 22:52, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
