Who what and Where

I could find no reference to either Ordos or Pubei here [1], nor can I find reference in Dupey and Dupey to any wars in the area during the time frame specified. Without more information I am not sure this is even real.Slatersteven (talk) 17:34, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

Name

The name of thous article is odd, the source does not call it this, and no search brings up any hits. it might be best to rename it "Huamachi rebellion" or some such.Slatersteven (talk) 13:38, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

This is one of the Three Great Campaigns of the Wanli era (萬曆三大征), a collection of the most notable wars of the Wanli Emperor's reign (the others include the Japanese invasions of Korea) and as such it arguably would be the primary topic of all Ordos Campaigns. The Cambridge History of China vol. 7 (Ming part 1) calls it the "Ordos campaign" on p. 566, while Chinese historiography calls it the Ningxia Campaign (Kenneth Swope [author of the only source we have on the article right now] uses this name on his doctoral thesis [3]) or Pubei Rebellion. _dk (talk) 03:31, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

The most important Ordos Campaign in my view is Meng Tian's campaign against the Xiongnu in 215 BC, which had profound impact on the history of China and of the Eurasian steppes. But the issue is moot as that campaign does not have an article yet. -Zanhe (talk) 08:10, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

@Underbar dk: Yeah, looks like there were quite a few campaigns in Ningxia as well, see zh:宁夏战役, even if we disregard Genghis Khan's campaigns against the Western Xia. How about Pubei Rebellion or Ordos Campaign of Wanli? -Zanhe (talk) 22:33, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

@Zanhe: If we are going to call it Ordos Campaign anyway and if a disambiguator becomes necessary, I would go for "Ordos Campaign (1592)". I haven't seen any English source call it Pubei rebellion yet, but then again I haven't looked very hard. _dk (talk) 23:10, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
