Compact?

edit

The class of this car is a compact, it seems. I don't understand why. I drive a 2004 Alero GL sedan. It has a V6 engine and its size, to me, classifies it as a mid-size sedan, not a compact. A Mazda3 or Ford Focus, for example, are compacts. They are smaller and have 4-cylinder engines. I, to date, have never seen a compact car with a V6 engine. S3BST3R 06:43, 1 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The US Gov't determines car class simply on the basis of cargo volume; so there is often little relationship to outside dimensions or engine size. 160.81.133.194 23:44, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Mazda MX6 is a compact with a V6 motor ^_^ (3:40 AM Dec. 8, 2008) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.165.95.211 (talk) 08:41, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Engine and bodystyle

edit

Okay, I can't remember if it's the 5.3 or northstar, but the Aleros came with a v8 in coupe and sedan mated to a fourspeed auto. Also between 2003 & 2004, they did get a bodystyle change, mostly the front and rear. The front was flattened some like the Grand Am. Whoever wrote the above about the Alero coming with a v-8 is wrong. Engine choices were a 2.2l ecotec i4, a 2.4l i4 or the 3.4l v-6. It was never available with a v-8. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.120.203.44 (talk) 01:19, 23 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
