Protestors holding innocent people prisoner against their will inside buildings, cars, and buses, is not exactly what I would call a "peaceful" protest.

Woman in wheelchair

The sentence about this should be removed for biased phrasing and terminology. The video that supposedly shows a wheelchair bound woman being "violently" prevented from leaving is actually just video of the woman being interviewed by the cameraman just inside the doors of the Walter Washington Convention Center with protesters on the outside of the doors. The lady wasn't violently manhandled or anything.

And she was being prevented from leaving just like everyone else inside. Therefore, her story shouldn't be singled out from the rest of the guests inside the Convention Center.

The video shows that she went right up to the door and tried to leave, but the protestors wouldn't let her. Mk2z0h (talk) 20:23, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Daily Caller/luxury vehicle sentence

This is the one: "November 5, 2011: The Daily Caller posted a video of protestors who blocked vehicular traffic, only allowing non-luxury vehicles to pass."

I'm removing it because:

(1) The date is wrong. November 5 is the Daily Caller's dateline, not the date the event occurred.

(2) Any mention of protesters blocking vehicles can be done better in a reformed statement of information about Occupy D.C.'s protest of the Americans for Prosperity event at the Washington Convention Center. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.36.192.198 (talk) 08:43, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

If you think you can rewrite to make it better, that's great. But please don't remove it. This information debunks the article's previous claim in the introduction that the protest was "peaceful." "Peaceful" people do not run into oncoming traffic, and then pretend that it is somehow the driver's fault that they were run over. Mk2z0h (talk) 20:26, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Events of November 4, 2011

I have reformed the summary of what happened on this date in the current events timeline of the article to more accurately and neutrally report the facts without the use of strong adjectives and adverbs. The original author of this section was obviously critical of the Occupy D.C. protest at the Washington Convention Center, and perhaps wrote about it with some emotion. Not only did he/she use "violently" to describe the protest several times, he/she also inserted "violently" into the first sentence of the article as a description of Occupy D.C. in general, as if to make a political point.

I kept the TheBlaze.com as a source because to my knowledge, there isn't any rule against using a politically biased source. While TheBlaze.com is an obviously biased right-wing site, liberals/progressives would be within their rights to add a source to a liberal/progressive site which presents a liberal take on the November 4 protest.74.36.192.198 (talk) 14:20, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

The introduction had falsely labeled the protest as "peaceful." I replaced the word "peaceful" with "violent," because that's a more accurate term to describe people who block traffic, hit cars, forcefully prevent people from leaving a building, and forcefully prevent a chartered bus from leaving. I took out the sentence about the 78-year-old woman being pushed down the stairs because the video source doesn't show any pushing down the stairs. Instead, it just shows two women lying on the ground. An interview with the woman who wound up at the bottom of the stairs revels that she fell down them after she tried to push through the protesters' chain of people and the protesters suddenly broke the chain. It's unclear if this was done with the intention of letting her fall or not. Therefore, she wasn't pushed. It's also unclear as to which of the two women is the one specified by the sentence. Other news accounts about this say the 78-year-old woman is the one lying near the top of the stairs and therefore didn't fall down them.74.36.192.198 (talk) 23:34, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

I've removed the Russia Today news template from the page, as it had raised concern because it pointed to a single trending news page, rather than a selection of trend pages, and after discussion in the appropriate places, it's easier to remove it than it is to add lots of other trend pages, as I don't know of any (don't have time to look).
