Sexual life of Uluç Ali Reis the Italo-Turkish Latin Lover
I have searched the Italian marine archives (which are 1,000,000 times more detailed than Turkish marine archives) but couldn't find any information about the alleged hyperactive sex life of Uluç Ali Reis (which is cool by the way).
I personally am not surprised that Murat Bardakçı, the notorious "tabloid historian" of Hürriyet daily newspaper, came up with such a spicy story (like all his other history-related stories).
- Murat Bardakçı is gay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.101.193.29 (talk) 08:14, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
- However, who cares about the sexual life/preferences/fantasies of a 16th century Ottoman admiral?
- Should we add his penis size as well, if we manage to get information on that one?
- Khoikhoi, believe me, even if you were famous, I wouldn't care about your sexual life.
- I would rather care about your "achievements" as a sailor. 151.42.176.142 02:14, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- I wholeheartedly agree. This is simply unsubstantiated sensationalism, not stuff for WIKI. Cosal 03:28, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Statue of Kılıç Ali Paşa at La Castella.jpg
Image:Statue of Kılıç Ali Paşa at La Castella.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 06:23, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Name
If Uluj Ali is the COMMON ENGLISH name for Turkish Uluç Ali Reis, the article should be moved to Uluj Ali. If it isn't, it shouldn't be what the article is using. Either way, sth's gotta give. — LlywelynII 07:12, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Uluç Ali Reis → Uluj Ali per WP:COMMONNAME & maybe WP:USEENGLISH
According to Books Ngram Viewer, Uluj Ali is overwhelming other.
- "Uluj Ali" -Llc minimum 107
- "Uluc Ali" -Llc minimum 108, but this result includes several Turkish books, and TCG Uluçalireis (S 338), also written as TCG Uluç Ali Reis: these must be excluded.
- "Uludj Ali" -Llc minimum 18
- "Ouloudji Ali" -Llc minimum 6

- Oppose The figures quoted above hardly establish that anything is used as a common English name. The instructions at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English) state "it can happen that an otherwise notable topic has not yet received much attention in the English-speaking world, so that there are too few English sources to constitute an established usage. Very low Google counts can but need not be indicative of this. If this happens, follow the conventions of the language in which this entity is most often talked about (German for German politicians, Turkish for Turkish rivers, Portuguese for Brazilian towns etc.)." This article seems to fit that criterion exactly, which would mean retaining it at the Turkish name. Skinsmoke (talk) 03:51, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
@ Skinmoke: As long as I understand, you confuse google books research with google research. Takabeg (talk) 04:32, 13 September 2011 (UTC) @ Skinmoke: As long as I understand, you didn't check Books Ngram Viewer. Takabeg (talk) 04:51, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose per Skinsmoke. We should use Turkish name for that person. - Darwinek (talk) 20:37, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
