Talk:Nuclear Emergency Support Team

Allowing for the very bad English, what does "home in on the activity of any single nuclear element desired" mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.15.138 (talk) 09:00, 5 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Unclear meaning

edit

"While it is common belief that NEST does not have the technology to accurately detect nuclear threats within the noise of natural radiation, in fact it has had the capability to distinguish between man-made and natural radiation since the 1970s. At first, there were still some problems with this simple distinction, as man-made radiation also includes such things as medical radiation." Could someone edit this so as to make the sentence meaningful. At the moment the intended message is very unclear.Jimjamjak (talk) 13:48, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

There is a lot of largely unnotable material in this section. I would suggest complete removal of the section, or considerable pruning of the material within it. See WP:IPCEXAMPLES for information.Jimjamjak (talk) 11:50, 31 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

People are weapons?

edit

I am confused by the statement pertaining to The Blacklist "that a group of operatives they are seeking are in fact nuclear weapons". This is correct?Royalcourtier (talk) 06:23, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I didn't do the edit but know the episode. The protagonists are trying to track down the "Kungur 6", thinking it's a bunch of Soviet agents, but later discover it's a bunch of hidden nuclear weapons. JGriffithSV (talk) 17:35, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

NEST Capabilities section updated

edit

The NEST Capabilities description was not fully accurate and the cited reference was to the 2022 Nuclear Posture Review, which has nothing about NEST capabilities. I went directly to NNSA's NEST web page and used information from the Official US Government website to update the page, using that site as reference. I also updated references for ARG and RAP.
