Proposed merger

The proposed merger into an article related to Zimbabwe is flawed. Zimbabwe has nothing to do with Northern Rhodesia besides the fact that it borders Zambia, the former Northern Rhodesia, and some shared history. Sure, in the grand scheme of things the subject of this article is barely worth mentioning, but it is (or was) a significant publication in what later became Zambia. This article will develop over time.

Absolutely agree with the above. Zambia and Zimbabwe are today entirely different countries and in the early 1950s, when many of these journals were published, the then Northern Rhodesia was a British colony governed by the Colonial Office whereas Britain never governed Southern Rhodesia. It was administered by the British South Africa Company until 1923 and was then granted self-government and came under the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs as did Australia, Canada etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sunbeam16 (talk • contribs) 15 December 2017 (UTC)

I stand corrected, thank you. I saved this article from being deleted by suggesting a merge and redirect. I think I suggested that article as the target because I searched for articles that cite the Northern Rhodesia Journal, and happened to pick the citation at Constitutional_history_of_Zimbabwe#Newspaper_and_journal_articles.

Although this page has been expanded, some of the new content is a WP:COATRACK rather than proper encyclopedic coverage of the journal. This article still lacks independent citations to confirm that the journal is itself a notable topic. Merger to a different page might still be a necessary outcome. – Fayenatic London 22:57, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
