Marine fur trade

I added this redlink in the follow-up line to James Hanna; see edit comments in the history about the profits. An article on the marine fur trade is long overdue and I think there should probably be a cat to that effect at some point. Not prepared to start the article, would have to start with Russian fur trade and proceed from there, just redlinking it for future notice or for some eager-beaver other editor to write up; it's related to Old China Trade, which is APOV mostly as yet.Skookum1 (talk) 14:41, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Only on the east side of Nootka Island

Looking at maps and some texts it seems to me that Nootka Sound is really only the inlets on the east and south side of Nootka Island, while Esperanza Inlet lies to the north, connected with Nootka Sound via Tahsis Narrows. I'm not sure enough to make a change to the page's statement about Nootka Sound being a strait between Nootka Island and Vancouver Island, but... well, the "Nootka Sound". BC Geographical Names. and "Esperanza Inlet". BC Geographical Names. pages seems to indicate this. The Waggoner Cruising Guide says quite clearly that Nootka Sound is only on the east and south side, connected at Tahsis Narrows, but it's hardly the best source. Taboo

Nootka Sound is not just referred to in the BBC series Taboo - it's central to it. The Radio Times calls it a "key location".[1] Though Nootka Sound isn't yet an actual location in the drama (tht may come later), the ownership of Nootka Sound is crucial to virtually every major player in the drama - Delaney's mother and sister, the East India Company, the British and American governments, and Delaney himself.

I was criticised for saying this. And here is my general point about Wikipedia entries. Editors should welcome new additions which are accurate, and which add to the general pool of knowledge. I often get the feeling that editors jealously guard their own patch against all comers, and just undo new edits for the sake of it.
