Mayor of which city? (I'm assuming New Amsterdam and writing that in but someone please confirm). How long did he serve as mayor? Does 1676-1677 mean he started serving in that range or does it mean that was his entire term in office? RJFJR 17:53, 27 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
The city of New Amsterdam and New Netherland became English in 1664. Then the city changed its name to New York as did the colony (and later state of the US). The term of office of the mayor norally lasted one year, De Mayer served from 1676 to 1677. --Proofreader 18:13, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
