Talk:Newport, Florida

This article reads like a personal travelogue for the town of Newport. It also sounds like a tourist promotion and not an encyclopedia article. -- Dcflyer 00:19, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup

edit

This article has been Wikified and cleaned up -- all reference to a travelogue or brochure removed. To the author: This was a good story but read like an novel, not an encyclopedia entry. I cannot determine whether Magnolia was Newport at one time or not. I'm investigating that now. Current maps (Google and Yahoo) don't show Newport on the St. Mark's River but I do know Magnolia was on that river. See Magnolia, Florida and Port Leon, Florida for some of your work that could be cited. Noles1984 21:52, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Problems

edit

I removed a copyvio from the article. As this was the only item in the article citing the state web site, and amounted to no more than trivia (an event that took place in Newport, but no indication of its significant to Newport), I also removed that link. The only other citation of a source gives no information about when and where the cited document was published, and I have therefore added the Unsourced template. -- Donald Albury 15:32, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Newport Springs

edit

It might or might not be of interest that the Newport sulphur springs are also known, at least to locals, as "Stinky Creek". - The Bushranger (talk) 22:26, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
