Length of article edit

Wikipedia says of the article:

  • "This page is 102 kilobytes long. It may be appropriate to split this article into smaller, more specific articles. See Wikipedia:Article size"

My response to this would be to create separate lists for each city or town or at least the ones that have many places listed and then simply link from from the city or town name to the new list. I have already done this for Newton. See List of Registered Historic Places in Newton, Massachusetts clariosophic 14:03, 29 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Echo Bridge edit

Echo Bridge is located in both Newton and Needham. It therefore should appear in both lists. (It's just as much in Needham as it is in Newton).--Marcbela (talk) 20:47, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

September 2009 Scan edit

  • Scanned the links without photos and all look OK
  • Added one new photo from a linked article
  • Someone should check HABS/HAER for more photos
  • Since the list was split, the Echo Bridge photo may not belong with the Sudbury Aqueduct Linear District. The bridge connects Newton Upper Falls in Middlesex County and Needham in Norfolk County. It correctly belongs on both lists. But this page excludes the places in Newton, which is on a separate list and therefore is not in the geographic area represented by this list. On the other hand, it is probably an iconic image for the Sudbury Aqueduct Linear District. I'll let someone with local knowledge and traditions make this decision. • The picture is from the Newton side and as you say it really is iconic. Needham and Wellesley are the only Norfolk towns it goes through, the others are all in Middlesex, except for a few feet into Suffolk (Boston}. I lived in Newton until I was 12 clariosophic (talk) 02:25, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Template limit exceeded - split? edit

The end of this list is being truncated because template expansion limit is being reached (see WP:TLIMIT). I propose splitting into "northern" and "southern" lists, based roughly on Route 2 as a divider. This would create two lists with the following communities:

  • North: Acton, Ayer, Bedford, Burlington, Belmont, Billerica, Boxborough, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Dunstable, Everett, Groton, Lexington, Littleton, Malden, Melrose, North Reading, Shirley, Tewksbury, Tyngsborough, Wilmington, Woburn
  • South: Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Hudson, Lincoln, Maynard, Natick, Stow, Sudbury, Watertown, Wayland, Westford, Weston

The north list would have about 120 entries, the south list 105. Comments? (One alternative would be to split out the three towns with the largest listings: Framingham (17), Weston (15), Lexington (14), which would bring the size of this list well below 200 entries.) Well, for Essex County and Worcester County for example we have splits for the larger towns. That way seems a little more intuitive for me than dividing the county by a major road, though I don't have strong feelings either way. Fletcher (talk) 12:10, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Considering a number of towns have already been split off, it may be better to just split off the three towns. Magic♪piano 19:22, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
