This information:
"Still more than 1,000 artifacts are missing, including The Fight Between Carnival and Lent by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (donated to the Museum in 1937 by Stanisław Ursyn-Rusiecki)..."
seems incorrect because the Wikipedia link to the painting says:
"The painting currently resides in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna."
Can someone resolve this?

From the point of view of the Polish National Museum in Krakow, this is a missing painting, as shown on the Muzeum Utracone ("the Lost Museum") website, which catalogues artifacts that were once in Polish museums, but were stolen from them, particularly during WWII. You'll notice on http://muzeumutracone.pl/portfolio/walka-karnawalu-z-postem/ that the black & white image is the same as the one on the painting's Wikipedia page - the painting was requisitioned by the Germans on Dec 5th 1939, then taken away by SS Governor Wächter's wife and reportedly sold in Vienna. One can assume, then, that it somehow found its way into the Viennese museum.
