A bottle of Narciso Rodriguez for Her in eau de parfum
... that Narciso Rodriguez for Her(pictured) won perfume of the year three times? Source: The eau de toilette was awarded by the US Fragrance Foundation in 2004 (Women’s Wear Daily, 2004, via ProQuest); the French Fragrance Foundation in 2005 (Foundation website), and the US again in 2006 for the eau de parfum version (Women’s Wear Daily, 2006, via ProQuest).
ALT1:... that Narciso Rodriguez for Her(pictured) was inspired by a bottle of Egyptian musk oil Narciso Rodriguez was given in high school? Source: "... a rich centre of musk lies beneath. It's a serious and sexy scent, ideal for candlelight. The perfume's earthy core was, in fact, the starting point for the perfume itself. When he was a teenager, a fashion designer friend gave Rodriguez a bottle of Egyptian musk. Since then, it has become a signature: Rodriguez wears it on his skin, in his hair. 'I sort of shower in it," he confesses.'" (“Glamour Boy”, Globe and Mail, 2003, via ProQuest)
Overall: Article meets requirements for newness, it was moved from drafts within a week of nomination. Long enough and AGF for any of the offline sources available on ProQuest. I would approve ALT1 as it seems like the more interesting of the two. The only issue is that the overall tone of the article feels a bit promotional, more like an endorsement of the perfume than anything. BuySomeApples (talk) 01:44, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the feedback BuySomeApples; from my POV I was just following the sources as I do not actually like this perfume much in real life! But I would welcome any places where you think the phrasing could be helpfully adjusted. (I think that’s probably the best shot as sources really only bring it up in terms of how successful it is; it’s not like there are negative reviews I’ve left out.) BuySomeApples, thanks, I hadn’t encountered that issue before. I added it in the entry. By chance do you know how to add it (or if it can be) here at DYK? It’s not one of the parameters in the template... On the subject of templates, it turns out pings only work if done when you sign a post—but I saw this in my watchlist so it’s all good, just an FYI as this mystified me for years! That should be fine, and I've added a more descriptive caption just in case since alt text readers can also pull the info from there. Thanks! BuySomeApples (talk) 03:31, 23 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
