1964 Jun 27th – The Malaysian government was brought into the plan to control Nantah when the Malaysian government announced that it had to take police action against the students in order “to break the communist control of Nanyang University and revive the powers of the University Council and academic staff”. With the participation of the Singapore government, more than a thousand police and military personnel in 70 vehicles, including anti-riot trucks, broke into the campus in the middle of the night, immediately following the end of examinations. As soon as they entered the main gate, the police proceeded in groups to the dormitories. Altogether, 54 students were arrested, including student union executive committee members. 49.245.51.205 (talk) 06:32, 2 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
