Prod edit

I'm removing the prod tag, as the author seems to have written a notable book [1]. I'll try to do some more fixing up later. -- Quiddity (talk) 18:43, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Seems clearly notable to me--founder of a major academic organization and author of a notable book. Per this discussion, I've removed the notability tag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Asbruckman (talkcontribs) 14:59, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Baym is a major figure in Internet Studies, and clearly meets the academic notability criteria, not just because of the book, but as past president and a founder of the Association of Internet Researchers. Also widely cited in the news media. -- Halavais (talk) 02:54, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Entirely unacceptable self-promotion edit

This person may very well be a significant educator in the field of media, but you wouldn't know it from this apparently self-submitted entry. I actually came here to learn about her, but I'm outie. Perhaps her university has a legitimate bio, or its alumni magazine. Anything but this, although I'm thrillllllled to learn that she has uploaded photos to her "flickr" page. That's Wikitastic!

  • Dstlascaux, I don't think it was self-promotion. Take a look at an earlier version of the article: [2]. After that, I think a class assignment took over... Drmies (talk) 17:30, 1 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Early Life edit

Considering her level of influence, it would be helpful to include a section detailing her early life. --Duckori (talk) 05:51, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

References edit

A number of references in the section about her Personal life are missing references, and/or contain broken links, which need to be replaced. It would also help the credibility of the article to use more sources outside of her own website, publications, etc. --Duckori (talk) 05:53, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
