2 sections still need to be added

A section intitled "Developpement" should be added to the article, and the section intitled "Reception" should also include "Critical Reception" and not just "Commercial Reception", as it does at the present time.--Ahmad123987 (talk) 14:10, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced sales figures, unexplained reversion

In this edit I removed a number of unreferenced sales figures. I also removed the plus (+) signs after the figures that remained, because they are unsupported by the refs that were there (and they're silly). The consensus at WT:DISCOGSTYLE and WT:CHARTS has been to remove columns of sales and shipments, in part because it's not always clear whether the figures are sales or shipments, also in part because they're often poorly sourced. Sales figures belong in the text, best of all, but whether in the prose or a table, they need to be fastidiously referenced.

In the edit above I also corrected some references, fixed the US sales figure per the source, and added some table code for accessibility. The table had been sortable, but only on the Region column, which was already alpha sorted; I therefore removed the sortability.

Shortly thereafter, my edit was reverted, without explanation. I do not understand why a sortable table of this kind is useful, as one can only invert and re-invert the whole thing. I do not understand why a ref for Swiss certifications in German is better for us on en-WP than one in English. I do not see the value of incorrect titles for the refs, nor for the improper use of the letter x rather than the times (×) symbol in multi-platinum listings, nor for the replacement of "+" after every figure. What number is that?

What really has me confused, though, is the preference for sales (or shipment) figures which are wholly unsourced. One number has a reference, but it points to Some Guy's Blog, and the guy has stopped compiling data, because he didn't have enough free time. That is not a reliable source. There's no ref for a double-platinum award in Canada, no ref for "750,000+" in the EU, no support for "3,000+" in Greece, etc.

The next edit, one minute later, by the same user, was a change to a completely new sales (shipments) figure in the US. This at least had an edit summary, "The sales in 2010 were added for the US sales". Am I to understand that you're adding number on a scratchpad at your desk? Where did the number 2,315,023 come from? It's certainly not in either of the references cited. What's going on here? — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 05:22, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
