Poland has also two indigenous styles of popular music: sung poetry and disco polo. The latter is completely ignored by the mainstream media, while the former has its own radio stations and TV channels.
Isn't former and latter confused here?-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 22:14, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Heavy Metal
A reference to Heavy Metal music in Poland would be welcome here, I guess... Ciacchi 18:21, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Folklore groups
Don't groups like Mazowsze or Ślansk merit a greater mention, as part of the Communist approved folklore? Likewise groups like Kwartet Jorgi, who moved back to a more authentic form of traditional music ("post-folkloric")? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.13.39.98 (talk) 21:35, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Trance
How about electronic or trance music? Musicians like Nitrous Oxide or Adam Nickey should be mentioned. --116.49.120.53 (talk) 14:14, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Post-Punk / New Wave
There were plenty of popular and influential groups in the post-punk/new wave genres, like Siekiera, Klaus Mitffoch, Kult, Republika, Maanam, Brygada Kryzys, Aya RL or Lady Pank. They deserve a mention, especially considering the metal section is so detailed. 89.66.24.48 (talk) 01:53, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Patriotic and Christmas Sections
I notice there is nothing on Polish patriotic music or kolędy and pastorałki at present. I consider kolędy i pastorałki in particular to probably be worthy of their own section. Would others agree? UninventiveWithUsernames (talk) 16:29, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
- This article is certainly incomplete and I am sure it is missing the mentions of many important topics, through as someone who is not well versed in music, I cannot really say what else is missing. Btw, kolęda currently redirects to Koliada, which is not the best redirect. There is no article on Polish Christmas carols, sadly, through there are two sections - one at Christmas_carol#Poland and another at Christmas_in_Poland#Kol.C4.99dy.2C_the_Christmas_carols which could be used to start a dedicated article. pl:Pastorałka links to Kolyadka which does not even mention the Polish term, and seems to be focused on the Ukrainian usage and culture. There is also no article on Polish patriotic music, through there is something at Polish national songs, within the Category:Polish patriotic songs category. The very concept of a Patriotic song is begging for development, too. I did find a WIEM Encyklopedia article which could be used as a source for related topic: [1], and in a minor online encyclopedia of Polish music [2]. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 17:58, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- Looks like I have a task when I'm done with this. :) There's definitely a lot missing. I'll be working on it today, though if someone else could check the Heavy Metal and Contemporary Popular Music sections that would be great, as I know next to nothing about those. Thanks for the sources, I'll remember those. :) UninventiveWithUsernames (talk) 10:01, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Unclear sentence in Heavy Metal section
I'm working on improving the Heavy Metal section and I've come across a sentence in the second paragraph on black metal that I can't make sense of and I don't really know enough on the subject to figure it out. It currently says, "While still active, Vader later developed a death metal sound with occult themed lyrics, Imperator's style of music is disputed; reformed twice in the 1990s, the band eventually dissolved in 2000, with only one studio album released." Does anyone know what this sentence is trying to say? Does it mean that Vader is still active, or that Imperator is? Which was reformed twice in the 1990s, etc.? UninventiveWithUsernames (talk) 12:55, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- Sadly, I know nothing about Polish heavy metal. Vader (band) seems still active according to the wiki page on them. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:44, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- If I'm understanding the Polish page on Imperator correctly they were disbanded in 2000. So I'm going to guess that this should just be two separate sentences, with "While still active...lyrics" in one and the rest in another. This section is very confusing, especially since I have no background knowledge... It looks like bad machine translation that's been improved to varying degrees, but I can't figure out where from. It doesn't seem to be from the page in one of the other languages, and there aren't even any sources for the Gothic Metal section to check... UninventiveWithUsernames (talk) 15:03, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- I doubt Imperator is important enough to merit any mention here, one album that's not self-published, no indication of any serious awards, recognition, etc. Barely notable even as a group. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 16:56, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Removal
I've reverted an unsourced sentence in the Podhale section which said, "The people in the Tatra mountains of Poland and Slovakia are descendants of Vlach shepherds who settled there from 14th to 17th century." The problem is, besides being unsourced, that it is not clearly relevant or important to that section and is only one of a number of different theories for the origins of the Rusyn people (most notably the Lemkos and Boykos) of that area. There's a discussion of the various theories at Lemkos#History. Implied in that discussion, but not plainly stated, is that there is a controversial political element to different authors and advocates choice of which theory to advance due to different geopolitical groups wanting to claim (or reject) the Rusyns. The same split exists within the remaining Rusyn population itself. The Vlach theory is, I'm sure, sourceable but it should not exist alone here and to go off and try to explain all the different theories so as to achieve NPOV on that point will give undue weight to this already-very-marginal point in the context of this article. It is thus better for the point to be omitted altogether. Regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 18:17, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

Article removed from Wikipedia:Good articles
This article was formerly listed as a good article, but was removed from the listing because it's not comprehensive
- Comprehensive? It certainly isn't. But the problem is that its not balanced, with most of the space devoted to Heavy Metal rock music. Its nice to have that here, but the article gives short shrift to other types of music.TwelveGreat (talk) 18:53, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
