As it stands now, it looks like everything was originally written in Finnish. I know they were published in English first, but I'm not sure about the writing, I think Tove wrote in Swedish, and Lars translated the strips to English before publishing, but I'm not entirely sure on the facts, so don't quote me on that. 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 01:53, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm about to add the Swedish titles now, found them at "Virtuelles Muminforschungzentrum", although I'm not sure on whether the main title for the comic in Swedish was "Mumin" or "Mumintrollet" at the meantime. 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 17:30, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Most of the info on the early comic was found in the book "Jorden går under! – Tove Janssons första muminserie i Ny Tid 1947-48" by the publisher "Tigertext Ab/Ny Tid" in 2007. It could also be found on the Swedish Wikipedia. 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 01:25, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Your edits seem to deliberately promote Sweden. Sweden is irrelevant in this article - the comic was created directly for English newspapers, and the country of its origin is Finland. Picking Swedish as the translation for the name in the start, and as a translation for every comic episode name is just wrong. Sweden is one of the 40 languages it was published in, but truly neither of the previously mentioned. i.e. there is no reason to pick it as a random language to translate to. 89.27.110.145 (talk) 01:16, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

"The very first comic strip (entitled Mumintrollet och jordens undergång) was a short-lived attempt for the children's section of the Finland-Swedish leftist newspaper Ny Tid." Ny Tid is written in the Swedish language. "Mumintrollet och jordens undergång" is a Swedish phrase. It is fairly obvious that the very first comic strips were actually in Swedish. Using Swedish translations does not appear to have been an arbitrary or POV-pushing edit but rather an attempt to provide relevant information for readers. Comic strips from Chikuma, in Japanese language

Could I add a list of a comic strips series published in Japan? I am talking about the Chikuma Shobō series. Althogh I've heard enough rumor that Tove and Lars was not quite comfortable with works in Japan in the end of '60s and early '70s, due to those animation I question, too. I'd like to add the series of 14 Chikuma titles in 1991-2001 period, as I have enjoyed reading them over the years; each volume was selected very carefully from among comic strips in English. For your info, Mayumi Tomihara, the translator is so devoted to translate Moomin comic strips and put the original English titles to Chikuma volumes very carefully. She translated so many Tove's works including novels, of course visited Tove and discussed the details, according to the postscript she writes for Chikuma series.
