Perhaps the article http://www.living-rivers.de/werra/themen/kali.html could be of use to make a comment about the environmental impact that the heaps have. I don't feel confident enough to reference from it myself. MinimanDragon32 (talk) 14:40, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
- Done. That is, I have translated the short paragraph in the German-language article that was based on that page and added some information (namely, salinity levels) from the original reference. --UrsoBR (talk) 15:50, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Why is the salt "unusable"?
editMy first question upon reading this article is why the salt is considered "unusable" for other purposes, since salt in general is a rather useful material and it appears that dumping it is causing at least a modest amount of environmental damage. Is it simply being produced faster than it can be used up? Is it contaminated or in some other condition that makes it either impossible or uneconomical to use? I think it would help the article a lot if somebody could add a brief explanation to clear up just why this salt is "unusable".--Witan (talk) 04:02, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
