Separate branch
editNitpick: it is not quoite correct to say that In the science fiction novel Starship Troopers, the Mobile Infantry is a separate branch of the armed forces
It is clearly stated in the novel thar the "MI" or mobile infantry is a part of the Army, a specific organization ro specialization like the Combat Engineers or the Artillery. I suggest "specialist organization within the Army" in place of "separate branch", but i am not going to make such an edit while the current AfD is in progress. Mounted Infantry
editI think it is questionable that mounted infantry can be counted as mobile infantry. The pace they moved at over long distances was hardly much faster than the leg infantry. The US Drill Regulations for Cavalry calls for an average speed of 5 mph with frequent stops and periods of walking to get 25 miles per day. I don't know what the American infantry did in the period could do, but Roman legions made 20 miles per day with 80 lb of equipment.[1]. Oh right, we have an article Infantry in the American Civil War; 15–20 miles per day. SpinningSpark 18:17, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
What is this?
editI can't make head or tail of this article. Is it a normal article? Is it a list? Is it a DAB? It doesn't seem to resemble anything. KeeperOfThePeace (talk) 9:21, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- @KeeperOfThePeace: It was originally a dab page, but was unilaterally changed here. I would support changing it back to a dab, especially as the majority of participants at the recent deltion discussion explicitly thought it was a valid disambiguation. Also, no sources have been provided to support it as an article. SpinningSpark 11:33, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
