Talk:Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Genres edit

This series is not yuri, so I am removing that genre and citation. In the cited source, a representative from Seven Seas notably said "a touch of yuri" when describing the series, but even that arguably erroneous. While the quote can be attributed to the English publisher of the manga, I believe its usage was reaching a bit as the series itself has a primarily female cast but very little yuri and certainly not enough to consider it part of the yuri genre.

If I'm wrong then I apologize, but I believe that keeping the genre there would be misleading information.

Well, all genres need to be sourced and not based on WP editors' opinions. I'm not saying it should or shouldn't be categorized as yuri (haven't read the manga or watched the anime and haven't looked at sources discussing the series), but if reliable sources call it yuri, then we should as well.--IDVtalk 17:18, 4 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
This is not yuri, because it only uses the one-sided love of two girls to the other two girls as a running gag, but does not portray it as an official lesbian attitude. If you look from the point of view of authoritative sources, then there is no consensus, for example, Okazu believes that lesbian feelings of Tooru are used only for comedy, while ANN regards their relationship as a kind of quasi-same-sex marriage. Both of these opinions have weight, but I do not think they allow the work to be attributed as Yuri. Solaire the knight (talk) 00:24, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

On the information box on the right, there are two "Anime television series" sections. This should be changed to be one section (add a Title to the first section, then move the 2nd section's content into the first section) (the first section is the first anime, and the second section is S/the 2nd season.) Waddleofficial (talk) 09:30, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Done. Template:Infobox animanga/Video says to leave end date as "present" if series is renewed.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 13:19, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Reverted by Goszei. I still stand by my edit, as the only confirmed difference is the "S" in the title, so until more names are confirmed I think we should merge the two sections for now. A little digging shows that for 2nd seasons with similar credits the sections are merged (Love Live!, KonoSuba), merged and noted with small text if slightly different (One-Punch Man), or completely seperate if very different (Oregairu).  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 01:33, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
There's no universal way to deal with additional anime seasons, as you've shown with those articles. But as a rule of thumb, generally if there is a different title and a long period of time between seasons, in addition to different staff and licensors, then I think they should be kept separate, like on A Certain Scientific Railgun.-- 02:50, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 03:49, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
The title for the 2nd season has already been confirmed to be Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S, see https://maidragon.jp/2nd/. On MAL, it is listed as a separate Anime, so I think it should be two separate sections in "Anime television series". Waddleofficial (talk) 19:05, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

New English Voice for Shota edit

FUNimation announced the English dub cast for the second season and the list reveals that Macy Anne Johnson will take over Alison Viktorin's role as Shota Magatsuchi. For its genre, shouldn't it also be considered a slice of life? Gonavan (talk) 05:22, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 09:28, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Here's the source: https://www.crunchyroll.com/miss-kobayashis-dragon-maid
Found more sources for just in case: https://www.funimation.com/shows/miss-kobayashis-dragon-maid/?qid=; https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=18807
Done using the Funimation link. Admittedly im not sure about Crunchyroll for genres as their tags are too widely varied, and the Anime News Network link is their encyclopedia, which is unreliable. Funimation is fine though. Link20XX (talk) 23:29, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I see~, and thanks~ :)

Curious if the dub controversy is worth mentioning? edit

I mean, it seems worth mentioning, doesn’t it? I’d add it myself but I haven’t actively edited an article in years. Sandwich 00:55, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it's really worth mentioning. When it comes to animanga controversies, they usually only warrant inclusion if they get acknowledged by the creator or lead to the series being edited, censored, banned etc, which to my knowledge has not happened here.
