is it apropriate to state conversions into US dollars that will quickly go out of date and be inacurate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.146.65.106 (talkcontribs)

This is what the Wikipedia Manual of Style says: "Conversions can be made into other currencies that are more familiar to most readers, such as the euro or United States dollar. Conversions should be in parentheses after the original currency, with the year given as a rough point of reference, for example, one thousand Swiss francs (approx. US$763, c.2005), rounding to the nearest whole unit." ~ UBeR 00:24, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Industrialized West" sounds not very neutral! Besides that Australia is not in the West.

Australia is in the West- it's not a fucking geographical location, it's a synonym for developed nations. And Western countries are considered industrialized, so yes it is neutral.

New Federal Minimum Wage (U.S.)

edit

In searching to see whether the new Federal minimum wage had been passed, I found this article. Assuming it's true, should we revise the current article and include a link? The site: http://www.laborlawcenter.com/federal-minimum-wage.asp

Thanks!

Here is a site with the current status of the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007: [1]. The article you cited says they reached a deal, but first both houses need to vote on the new bill for it to be sent to the president, and I don't think they've done that yet. Until then the deal is "unofficial." Thanks for checking it out though.
The bill isn't law yet. Maybe sometime soon though. I don't know. ~ UBeR 16:35, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
The House Senate compromise was included in the conference report for the vetoed supplemential approation bill. They might include this in the new version of this bill, but then again they might find another vechicle. Jon 22:00, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

UK section direct comparision to US

edit

I have removed the sentence there directly comparing to the US as duplicated in the next section below (The US section is immedately after the UK section). In addition, because the strength of the pound, the cost of living (in US $) is much higher in the UK than in the US. It looked to me when I was there in May 2006 that I was paying aprox 2X as much for food, transportation, goods, etc. over there than in the states. Jon 21:57, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chopped up and dished out U.S. section

edit

I've removed most of the content except for the current federal minimum wage law from the United States section, since this is supposed to be a list, not a conglomeration of mini-articles. The destinations of the material are Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007 and the new Minimum wage in the United States.--ragesoss 02:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Some checking here, please

edit

[ ... ] Province increased its minimum wage on 1 September 2006 and was split into five categories. The highest is ¥25.80 per month or ¥4.66 (~US$0.60 an hour) an hour (in Guangzhou city). The lowest is ¥20.70 per month or ¥0.69 (~US$0.25) an hour.[10]

i think this has not so much sense: if you say Y20.70 per month and divide per Y0.69 (20.7/0.69=30) the result it's 30 but i dont think chinese work 30 hours a month, but i have not been in china, though

thanks, Alvaro

These figures make no sense whatsoeever. Duprie37 (talk) 07:23, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Romania Minimum Wage

edit

The minimum wage for Romania does not specify whether it's talking about month or week. This may be clear for locals due to the conventions of the country, but is not clear to those from other places. Can someone in Romania (or someone who knows) please specify this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.109.157.8 (talk) 18:59, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Germany

edit

Hi, Germany should be added here, see e.g. this for reference. Cheers, Horst-schlaemma (talk) 12:31, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
