  • yes, this is the same guy you saw on the net beating up 5 or 6 people in a parking lot. and yes, this is the only reason why i have ever heard of mike v

Is this the same Mike Vallely caught on tape beating up four guys who called him a "skater fag?" You can find the video all over the internet. Is that notable for the article, considering its wide dissemination and the chance somebody would come here looking for that?

Yes, that is Mike Vallely. Apparently the CKY crew have a version of that video in color (unlike the black-and-white version from CKY3 that is found everywhere). He his well known for his many street fights. --Ifrit 06:25, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Good point but I still luv his skating do u even sk8??????

Is this a new band? What happened to Mike V and the Rats? --Liface 16:02, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, it's his new band. Not sure what's happened w/ Mike V and the Rats. Here's a link with more info on Revolution Mother: [[1]] Dubkiller 09:16, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

I think he changed the band's name to revolution mother. --Nollieheelflip 03:36, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Inclusion of 'Four Jocks' in fighting section

I think that mentioning this fight is only worthwhile if you can think of a better way of describing it. 'Mike beats up four jocks' needs to go. It's assumptive, and is in poor style. It is in very poor taste and they need it to be removed.

Repairing Article (contains culled info link)

The version with all the information before it was culled can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mike_Vallely&oldid=148311395

It is advisable that this information be researched again so it may be added to the article. He is a noteworthy figure so we'd just need to get some sort of research and references to make this work. Klichka 21:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Loose trivia:

  • Was a wrestler at one point
  • Featured regularly in the Tony Hawk Series
  • Member of CKY

You may add to this as you see fit, it is a bit of trivia to be possibly added in the future Klichka 21:48, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

pronunciation

the pronunciation we had wasn't possible in English. I'm finding 3 or 4 online, of which 2 are reasonable. I've added them to the lead, but please correct if you can confirm them. kwami (talk) 20:22, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Changes

Editing this article to make it more encyclopedic and nicer sounding. Also Mike V was in the hangover? Removed unless sourced. Woops, forgot to sign Deedeek (talk) 14:22, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Slanted Viewpoint re Fighting

The article currently states "The whole incident was recorded by his friend, Bam Margera, and is popularly misrepresented as Vallely actually brawling, when in fact he merely shoved a few people around."

This is factually incorrect, Vallely was the aggressor, he was throwing PUNCHES and throwing people about. He did NOT "merely shove(d) a few people around". Anyone who has seen the YouTube video can see this for themselves. I think this should be corrected.

This is one link to the relevant video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYsvLBdgIo4

I don't know how a video can be cited as a reference. Has he ever been charged?, as there are several videos on YouTube of him being very aggressive. Does anyone else share my view?. See the video for yourself and make a comment please. 220.101.28.25 (talk) 06:14, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

This entire article reads as though it was written by someone who is seriously mentally deficient. The 'Fighting' section is particularly laughable:

"but he didn't like the way the guy in the middle was laughing and lost his cool." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.86.148.12 (talk) 15:53, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Why...

doesn't this article speak of his fights AT ALL??? Thats like the main reason why he's popular. Because he faught for his right to skate. They even made a movie about his fights and showed many of them.

undoubtedly, he's labeled as "the toughest man in skateboarding" in one of the tony hawk games, that's how i first heard about him. Wikifried (talk) 13:53, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

I'd label him "the most aggressive deranged man that can't handle disputes like civilized people". 85.4.167.137 (talk) 15:46, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

That may be how YOU first heard of him but thats only because you are a "n00b". Dude is a skater first and foremost and always has been. Many people knew Mike Vallely before the CKY video gained notoriety and it's ignorant to assume otherwise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.36.35.40 (talk) 02:43, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't say "the main reason he's popular" is because he gets into brawls. Skateboarders are an elite group. We're some of the most athletically talented and artiscally gifted individuals on the planet and we're not going to respect someone just because he beats up jocks and security gaurds. Mike V. is known first and formost for is amazing skating abilities and innovation. He is a creative and passionate person. He treats his fans and peers with the utmost respect and in turn is repaid that respect. In the past skateboarders were looked down upon in the general society. Many people viewed us as delinquents and vandals. Some skaters may be. We come from the streets. We came from broken homes and poor, depressed neighborhoods. I can personally attest to being mocked and ridiculed for being a skateboarder and it was always coming from some mentally weak and ultimately jealous "bully". Now, i don't condone violence, but I think in Vallely's case it's the classic situation of someone who is tired of bullies and oppressors and is fighting back. Mike Vallely is not an aggressor, he is a defender. Jeremy Jardine
