Micheal (name)Micheal – No conflict. Obviously when it's the correct spelling should trump when it's a misspelling. Nardog (talk) 03:00, 11 January 2020 (UTC) clarified 01:58, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

This is a contested technical request (permalink). ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 04:14, 11 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • The target is a primary redirect to Michael with a hatnote for Micheal (name). Dekimasuよ! 04:45, 11 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - Tough one, but I'm on the side of belief that accidental transposition of the ae/ea is quite common, and that this primary redirect is probably the best way to catch editor typos. -- Netoholic @ 07:58, 11 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Netoholic: I find that to be an "editors first" rationale. Anthroponymic articles receive few links anyway—currently no articles link to Micheal (name) or its redirects besides Michael itself and List of Scottish Gaelic given names—so erroneous links can always be checked for at WhatLinksHere. Nardog (talk) 01:58, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
My vote literally mentioned editor concerns second. Such a common misspelling affects readers primarily. -- Netoholic @ 06:38, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
How is it reader-friendly to give precedence to those who misspelled over those who deliberately typed ea to look up this name? Nardog (talk) 14:33, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
I firmly believe far more people (readers and editors) misspell the very common name "Michael" than intentionally search for the rare alternate name "Micheal". -- Netoholic @ 15:33, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
And I firmly believe that wouldn't make the misspelling the primary topic even if it was the case. Nardog (talk) 15:52, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
Also, "Michael" is a name too, so "(name)" doesn't really serve its purpose as a disambiguator. Nardog (talk) 19:58, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak support per WP:SMALLDETAILS or alternatively create a DAB at "Micheal". Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:06, 11 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support, this article receives over 10 times as many views as the base term. The misspelling is not the primary topic. —Xezbeth (talk) 07:21, 15 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Section and edits removed without reason on the 22nd of march this year. edit

Hi everyone,

I created a Wikipedia account to amend this specific page, and all of my changes were reverted on the 22nd of March this year? I would like to know why this is. I was adding the information that the name Michéal is also an Irish variation of the name Micheal. I would know given it is mine and shared by multiple members of my family. I will revert the changes back to how I left them, and I hope whoever has an issue with it we can discuss this here instead of just deleting the other's work.

Michéal.

Someone has done it again, why? I shall change it back until someone replies as to why they are changing it back.
