Michael Hardie Boys' father was Reginald Hardie Boys, born in 1903, 24 years before the first Hardy Boys novel was published. It is more likely that the creator of the characters, Edward Stratemeyer, read the name in a newspaper and modified the spelling, or it could merely be conincidence. — Foxtrot1296(talk)
