MEDI-CAL VS IAP?
editJust curious what the difference was between Medi-Cal and IAP(Insurance Affordability Program)? When I was single I had MediCal, now with a family, we get IAP. What's the difference? At first glance, the term appears to refer to those programs offered through the healthcare exchanges (e.g., Covered California) and traditional county welfare agencies for low-income families, ranging from Medicaid (Medi-Cal) and other programs such as the "Advance Premium Tax Credit" (APTC) and "Cost-Sharing Reduction" (CSR), which appear to be discounts on health insurance. The Medi-Cal page was marked for speedy deletion, with no comments in the Talk section about why. Of note, I did not create this page, but I have offered some edits over the years, and I refer to the contents on a regular basis, as it brings together information efficiently, as an encyclopedic entry should. The reason cited for marking for speedy deletion was that it was promotional, but Medi-Cal is not a company, but the California version of Medicaid, with over 10 million beneficiaries. As per the instructions on the speedy deletion notice, I will remove the notice, as I disagree with it, and state the reasons why here.
