Alternative versions of article edit

At Talk:McArthur Lake/Alternate1 I will create a proper disambiguation page, as an alternative to current list-article. See ongoing AFD discussion for context. I would welcome constructive help in making a proper disambiguation page. Please feel free to edit it. --Doncram (talk) 21:59, 8 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • I am opposed to replacing the present structure of this article with something like Talk:McArthur Lake/Alternate1, since this would remove useful material about lakes that are not notable enough to justify their own stand-alone article. The guidelines at Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists#Common selection criteria say, "... one of the functions of many lists on Wikipedia is providing an avenue for the retention of encyclopedic information that does not warrant separate articles... ". Aymatth2 (talk) 10:55, 9 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

At Talk:McArthur Lake/Alternate2 I have created a table-format version, similar to examples linked from Wikipedia:Set index articles. If there are no objections, I will copy this to the mainspace version of the article. Aymatth2 (talk) 10:59, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
