Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 8East-West Railway (Philippines) – The current name is rarely used that no evidence can confirm that "MRT-8" is really the given name to the rail line.   • Oppose: Despite suggesting a name, the Chamber of Commerce Website here [1] is an official presentation by the Undersecretary for Rails of the Philippine Department of Transportation (Pictured in the website). The presentation in the site linked is the official presentation to which it states that the University Avenue (UP Diliman) - Recto Line is designated as Line 8. Given the Philippine government policy of no dupilicty of service and the same alignment in the PNR East-West Railway, it is therefore Line 8 as Line 9 is now delegated to the Metro Manila Subway as also indicated in the official DOTr presentation in the link which the Chinese requestor whom is barely knowledgable with Philippine Transportation affairs insists despite official presentation by the Philippine DOTr as linked resting their laurels to outdated and inaccurate news reports.   • Comment: I am not opposing the use of "Line 8" to refer to the EWR project. There may be some coordinating problems between different government agencies, but the DOTr presentation is considered reliable. When other foreign professional journals on rapid transit has followed suit, it is pointless for me to object further.
  • I had a question that if "Metro Manila Rail Network" equals to MRT, and are MRT Lines (at least MRT3 and MRT7) are connected besides DOTr supervision and their nature as PPP projects. I don't see it in the DOTr presentation. But after some studies, I found these issues irrelevant and have to admit a mistake. There are usage in at least one the reliable sources of the term MRT8. Well, I should drop my earlier legitimacy claim then.
  • My focus is whether MRT-8 is a name common (not legitimate) enough to retain. The legitimacy issue has cleared, but even MRT-8 is the official name, do the reliable sources use the name more often than EWR? As I know, Diliman-Lerma Line was at first a part of Line 4 (Volume III, p. 10 - 35) in MMUTIS, 1999. Then QMC-Batasan section is built as part of MRT7, and the rest became MRT9. Now it is known as MRT8. On the website of PPP, the project is called "East West Rail Project." Take a look of this (though just an essay) - then why shouldn't we adopt the common name? From Google it seems that Line 8 is more common than "East West Rail." Nevertheless, how much of the "Line 8" results are reliable and relevant? Also different keywords shows different results.

  • Last, please beware of WP:EXPERTISE. I never pretend to be a know-it-all, and I don't have links with DOTr or major media outlets in the Philippines like some above. But I am not a newbie to accusations like that: "Your effort is not worthy. I live there and have ties to competent agencies. You are just an outsider." If anyone above thinks that it's appropriate, then I should consider getting a sack and get out of Wikipedia. Over 95% of what I wrote in Chinese Wikipedia comes from the reliable sources (which some may consider deprecated, hoax or whatever), not my expertise, profession or experience.--Spring Roll Conan ( Talk · Contributions ) 14:56, 24 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
    • @Dukawana: Despite the renumbering, it has been a practice to retain the MRT/LRT such as those of Line 6 (former Line 1 Extension) and Part of the old MRT-4 (not to be confused with the new LRT-4) which is now divided into MRT-7/Line 7 and MRT-8/Line 8. The old "MRT" in the "MRT-9" article remains and the only change is the number due to the renumbering.

Request for the possible underground, at-grade, and overground Line 8 stations

I am wondering on Line 8's stations looks like where the Line 7's Quezon Memorial Circle and University of the Philippines stations are underground, and Line 3's Quezon Avenue is at overground (hence, it might have a future interchange to Lines 3, 7, 8, 9 and vice-versa). Hopefully, there would be an official documentation on the station configuration at the right time.
