Hong Kong?

edit

Why is this said to be a "surname in Hong Kong" when it also exists in Singapore and just about any other place where a Mak happens to be?--Huaiwei 11:37, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Feel free to expand it, or split it into separate articles if it is necessary. — Instantnood 11:46, Apr 4, 2005 (UTC)

I don't think Mak is exclusively a surname of Hong Kong. I've see ethnic Chinese from Vietnam romanize their surnames as Mak or Mac also.--Yuje 04:02, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)

I have traced my relatives back twelve generations in Holland. Mak's were two significant families in the countries history. Jarod 08:24, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is more information for this chinese name in the chinese language wiki[1], but I wonder how to place it. Maybe on the related link for the chinese name. There is a lot information in chinese about this family name and links.

About the name, there is a village called 田心 tian 2 xing 1 in the province of Guangdong, on the Guangzhou sub-provincial city (广州), Huadu District (花都区huādōuqū), 赤坭镇chìnízhèn. People from this village all have this name. Many chinese mài (麥) are from this town. There are also others towns in China with this name.

Without those who romanized their name, it's not pertinent to say that I know someone with this name elsewhere. Like I'm live in Paris, I'm sure there is a lot of people with this name all over the world. We should better ask from which town in China they are from. --Sorbetsu 13:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disagree - there are links to related content in this article and I can find nothing that would suggest that any of this is made up. If there is something specific you can prove shouldn't be here, then change it. Jarod (talk) 18:39, 25 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
