The modern langage association is not in any sense a standards setting organization; see the article. The medical library association is, to some extent, but not the only function, so I didn't add it here. The names plus the (US) are enoughDGG 03:09, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

MLA → MLA (disambiguation) – I often think about Modern Language Association (MLA) as more of a primary topic than any other because MLA citations are helpful especially for print materials. In fact, "MLA" should be a redirect to Modern Language Association, regardless of popularity. --George Ho (talk) 22:39, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

    • I mean I strongly object to redirecting it to Modern Language Association. So as a combined concept, I oppose the move and redirect to the Modern Language Association. Though a redirect to "Member of the Legislative Assembly" is acceptable after the move, but it isn't part of your proposal. 70.24.247.54 (talk) 09:39, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
• Support. When I googled MLA -wikipedia, the top three results referred to the Modern Language Association. Result No. 4 is for Meat & Livestock Australia. This placement may be due to the fact that "mla" is part of their URL (www.mla.com.au). Nothing came up regarding members of legislative assemblies. Kauffner (talk) 12:56, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

• Strong Oppose This would be a US-centric move, a classic example of the sort of systemic bias which we want to avoid, see WP:BIAS. There are several other significant meanings, and an important meaning in the world's 2nd most populous country. PatGallacher (talk) 17:01, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

• Oppose. I decided to take a look at what pages actually link to MLA to get an idea of what the most common uses were. Judging by a rough sampling of pages, usage is split about half and half between Modern Language Association and Member of the Legislative Assembly (both Northern Irish and Indian).
