Single dispute

edit

"Lovers in Japan" is a promotional single. No commercial release of "Lovers in Japan" exists (CD, 7", 10", 12", Digital download or Maxi), though radio releases of "Lovers in Japan" have occurred in Europe, the US and Japan. I am not interested in going into yet another debate over what defines a promotional single, so I'm going to only say the most important fact to understand in the music industry- singles released to radio are called promotional singles. If radio singles are indeed actual singles, what is a promotional single then? Labels don't put "For promotional use only, Not For Sale" on their promo CD releases for no reason. They put them on there because they are not for sale. They are promotional singles.
