Banners
editSide topic: These banners are huge, really obstruct view of the content, can they be made smaller? Jjk (talk) 18:52, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- If you mean the WikiProject Banners, they can be hidden, but it's usually not done if there are only two. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:48, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Big deal or not?
editThis article is rubbish. THe media have not exaggerated the threat from this virus. On the contrary, they have understated it. This virus has completely trashed tens of thousands of websites AND many thousands of computers. If that's "no big deal" to you guys, I can assure you it's a big deal to the people who were affected (and I am one of them). Also, it is NOT true that the user has to download this malware him/herself. The malicious javascript is inserted onto websites via a worm that infects FTP clients and steals login details to websites. When people visit these entirely innocent websites, the virus is loaded onto their computer. They don't have to click or download anything, contrary to the information given here (and on other "techy" websites). Get your facts straight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.216.25.234 (talk) 03:05, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Main topic:
The public awareness of this issue, or its notability, seems to be increasing rather rapidly, in 15 min. or so between two different Google searches for the topic the number of hits rose from 649,000 to 701, 000.
The Google search string was: "lizamoon" (sql|attack|virus|malware|infection|infect|injection|scareware|malicious|site|security|"cross platform"|risk|"How to Defeat Lizamoon in One Easy Step"|twitter|script|"who know about this"|"src=http://lizamoon.com/ur.php"|"scripts src=http://lizamoon.com/ur.php"|"www.src=http://lizamoon.com/ur.php")
Yes it is long, to ensure it targeted only hits on this particular phenomena.
Perhaps instead of being deleted this article should be incorporated into whatever Wikipedia has on notable malware attacks. Presumably that article would start with the Morris worm and I'm sure that we have something like it on Wikipedia already. Perhaps someone who is more conversant with the topic can make a suggestion about which article it should be incorporated into.

- Other reports seem to indicate that the Lizamoon incident was rather small Ac8a (talk) 06:17, 6 April 2011 (UTC):

- It would appear that the press has greatly exaggerated the situation. I've edited the article to reflect that. Thanks for the references above. --Pmetzger (talk) 19:16, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
I thought Lizamoon was a name of a digimon at first.
There's also some viruses that lack articles (like MeMz) WernerHFan (talk) 09:19, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
