To Do List

edit

Many schools in Indonesia are not included on the main article. This is because they do not link to a Wikipedia article to help establish their notability. This To Do List is a list of these schools. You can help Wikipedia by creating articles for them. Feel free to add schools that do not link to Wikipedia articles here and please add schools that do link to Wikipedia articles to the main article.

Improvements for the To Do List

edit
  • definately will be an interesting list, may need to consider how to present the some total maybe divide into sub article or use hidden list. This should be done early so that effort isnt duplicated or waste in the process. Gnangarra 13:34, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request for this article/list to be abandoned

edit
Please see - Wikipedia:Categories vs lists and proceed to write articles about schools - this list will generate more waste of time and bad blood if it continues - I would appreciate someone independent of the current discussion to put this list/article up for deletion - thanks SatuSuro 14:58, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
My only concern is that by deleting this list, it could indicate that a lot of list of schools throughout Wikipedia should be deleted. Just look at List of schools by country. It just seems like a shame that after so many list of schools have been created, we have now decide that they are a waste of time. Thank you SatuSuro for you mediation of the recent disputes. Although I disagree that this article should be deleted. I will accept it if someone neutral to the current discussion does, in fact, delete it. -- ML Saturn (talk) 15:33, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Just because someone has been foolish enough to create a list of schools by country (how on earth could they have any sense of what constitutes an entry for a start?)... Considerable debate has occurred in wikipedia over the more important use of categories rather than lists - the problems in keeping the list are manifold:
  • Indonesia's 230 million population, 50 + million students http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Indonesia - with 30 plus provinces 350 regencies - I am very sorry but any idea of a list relative to that mass is beyond my comprehension as to how you could possibly create a suitable criteria for anything - notability or balance - please try to think much much much much smaller - maybe just the expat schools, or specific groups of schools - then you have something that is less likely to create dismay from seasoned indonesia project editors who despair at the naivete of such a project. It is not to disparage anyone wanting to do something like the expat schools of jakarta or whatever - but to do a list of schools for the whole country increasingly seems a terrible waste of time. Please try expat schools or something like that SatuSuro 12:15, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
From [1] there are 13.495 senior secondary schools in Indonesia in 2017/18. I agree that it's madness to include them all. But we should look at the country with similar population, US (3rd vs Indonesia 4th in the world): Lists of schools in the United States. Kentucky and Alaska, for example, has List of middle schools in Alaska and List of high schools in Alaska in the state level (50 states, equal to 34 provincial level in Indonesia). And some province has another subdivision lists (3000+ county level, probably equal to 416 regency level in Indonesia). Bennylin (talk) 18:11, 5 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Vote for putting this list to Afd for deletion

edit

Having proposed the deletion of this list and finding a red IP just editing it - I would like to see whether there is support from feloow eidotors before going to the afd process

  • Delete = for reasons given on this talk page and at the Indonesia project noticeboard - I believe that the list is potentially too large to be under the single banner of the country name - and consequently believe articles should be collectively within a category - not a list. SatuSuro 11:40, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Delete - wikipedia just isn't the place for bulk data sets. The Indonesian government are the appropriate people to host such a list, where it won't be continually vandalized, and where it is sure to professionally updated and maintained. We don't even have the resources to keep vandalism and poor quality edits out of our existing set of Indonesian articles. (Caniago (talk) 14:36, 3 March 2008 (UTC))Reply

The article could just follow the format of Lists of schools in Australia thus have list for each region with subsections like NSW layout. Gnangarra 14:03, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jangan/Please do not

Please do not add red links to this list - only completed articles to this list Tak bisa tambah nama merah - biru saja - terima kasih SatuSuro 13:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Middle Schools

edit

Before creating an article about a middle school (SMP), please read Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SMPK 4 Jakarta. It appears that the current consensus is that middle schools are not intrinsically notable. Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:13, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Schools for Deletion

Three schools on this list have been nominated for deletion. Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2011 April 24#Sekolah Dyatmika, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2011 April 24#SMP Negeri 5 Bandung, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2011 April 24#Sekolah Dian Harapan. Cleared red links, added intro and statistics

edit

I've cleared all the red links. It's not possible to list all 6.000+ senior high schools, not to mention kindergarten, elementary and junior high schools. I've also added some intro, in the absence of Schools in Indonesia, and also statistics Bennylin (talk) 15:53, 5 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

My suggestion is to either a) rename this to List of senior high schools in Indonesia, per general consensus that lower level schools are not notable, or b) turn this to lists and break it down further, as Gnagarra said above, into:
