dont delete Guinea bissau and senegal edit

according to www.embassypages.com,Senegal and Guinea bissau have embassy in terhan so dont delete them from list of embassy in Tehran — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.176.194.11 (talk) 19:30, 3 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello;embassypages.com is not a reputable site. If you want to prove that diplomatic missions exist, please use (preferably) a government source. I have shown in the article that Senegal does not have an embassy in Iran. It was closed a few years ago. Here is the link again proving it: [1]. As for Guinea-Bissau, it is extremely difficult to find any proof that the mission does or does not exist. I found a UN source that says that the mission possibly does exist. I will therefore, based on this one article, replace Guinea-Bissau, but not Senegal unless you can find a more reputable source that proves otherwise since I've just referenced a website from the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hello, I've found an article by Aljazeera (and others) that states that Senegal broke diplomatic relations with Iran in 2011 [2]. Your UN source is also from the same year. Senegal does not have an embassy in Iran. Regards, Aquintero, (talk), 4 August 2013, 13:06 (UTC)

Hello, following of our past conversation about Senegal embassy in Tehran and according to this source [2]Iran and Senegal plan to reopen embassies.we will wait until the day that Senegal embassy in Iran opens.regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.176.173.9 (talk) 15:48, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I generally find embassypages.com to be a good source of the current status of embassies and consulates around the world. Occasionally I find missions though that are not updated. I agree that government sources should be prefered, but we do also find government sources that are hopelessly outdated. For instance, Liberia's ministry of foreign affairs [3], Brazil's MFA's list of consulates in Brazil [4], Algeria's MFA [5] are hopelessly outdated. So, exercise caution and when in doubt find two independent sources that confirm the current status. Best Sir Tanx (talk) 19:10, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

In 2015, United Arab Emirates recalled its ambassador in Tehran but UAE embassy is still open and directed by the charge d'affaires. (Mahoorfa2 (talk) 23:50, 7 August 2018 (UTC))Reply
