Article creation edit

I created this page as to keep a list of companies that are or were in the retail clothing and footwear trade (physical not online). I however found that the following former retail companies I could not find any information on on the net, other than people's recollections:

  • Clifford Danns (menswear)
  • Edwin Davies (menswear)
  • Roneo (ladieswear)
  • Bobbies Clothing (ladieswear)
  • England Shoes (believe a south east chain)
  • Fashion Fayre (ladieswear chain north england)
  • Wilsons (L&P) Ltd (bristol based south west ladieswear chain)
  • Oakfield (menswear)
  • Nefitti (80s young ladies clothing)
  • Now (80s young ladies clothing)
  • Wards Shoes Shops (were a major Clarks agent)
  • Gaiety Fashion (1960s London & Essex ladieswear)
  • Levys of Stratford (1960s chain in Essex and London ladieswear)
  • Nigel Stores (1960s childrenswear East London/Essex chain)
  • Leaders Fashions (1960s ladieswear chain owned by Debenhams in Essex/London)
  • LF Stone ladieswear (part of LF Stone department store owned by Debenhams - believe Leaders became part of it)
  • Starr Fashions (1960s ladieswear chain in essex/london?)
  • Walk (chain of shoe shops? Did have a store in Oxford Street)
  • Westside Shoes
  • Ego (believe this was a fashion brand for ladies?)
  • Fabiani Lippi (believe to be an italian designer store in Mayfair)
  • Wesley & Roberts (mens tailors? savile row?)

I have not added these onto the list so any evidence to reference would be most helpful. I am going to add further companies when I have the time (i have identified 78 further additions to go) Davidstewartharvey (talk) 11:00, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have identified three new business - local ones that I can only find peoples memories of JJ Edwards, Janus Ladies Costumiers and Leamans Costumiers, all based in Ipswich. Any information would be helpful. Davidstewartharvey (talk) 10:13, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Inclusion criteria and blue links edit

What's the criteria for what is included in the list? Is it just every single clothing or footwear store in the UK like it seems to be or is there more to it that I'm missing? Also, blue links to articles that are not related to the subject and don't don't discuss it even tangentially should be removed. Since the purpose of linking is to help readers find out more details about the subject of the article, which is clothing stores and footwear stores in the UK (not "clothing brands" more generally or American Eagle Outfitters) and that isn't being served by linking to articles that don't even talk about UK clothing or footwear stores. The purpose of blue linking isn't just to highlight things either. --Adamant1 (talk) 11:38, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
