USS Hawaii

edit

The dates given for the laying down and launching of USS Hawaii (CB-3) do not correspond to what is given in the ship's article, where the laid down date is a year later and the launch date is two years later.--DavidCane (talk) 11:58, 26 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good catch - I cribbed the figures from List of battlecruisers of the United States Navy, and that list has the same error. Parsecboy (talk) 12:58, 26 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Leading Hood picture

The United Kingdom's HMS Hood in Australia, 17 March 1924 - Should that not read off Australia? Not sure of the naval terminology here.Jim Sweeney (talk) 13:12, 23 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Things missing

edit

As I recently translate this list into German, I was wondering why it became Featured. There is consistent formatting of numbers and scales, the names of the ref-groups are really bad in terms of traceability and at last: The whole german O-Class, which is mentioned in the introduction is missing. Is the main author willing to fix it? Otherwise I would nominate it for derecognition. --Bomzibar (talk) 10:11, 27 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Different units are used because different countries use different systems, at different times. The British and US both use Imperial (or did when these ships were built), while the rest used Metric. The standard for measuring tonnage also changed as a result of the Washington Naval Treaty, from metric to long tons. As for ref groups, press ctrl+f, it's not hard. And the O-class is now in the list. Parsecboy (talk) 20:06, 27 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Alright, thank you for the explanation. I modified the ref-groups names for the german article version to make it in my eyes more clearly but thats personal thinking. Maybe there should be a note about the question mark behind the second Kronshtadt to explain it? --Bomzibar (talk) 08:20, 28 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
