Awards With Ranking

For polls and other awards where Lady Gaga finsihed second, third, etc. I think we should identify what position the "nominated" piece came in at. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.102.90.51 (talk) 12:49, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

definitively not ... because the billboard awards are not based for voting ... it's based on song's position. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AriandaGAGA (talkcontribs) 15:10, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

"Pending" awards

I've asked this on several awards talk pages, but no one has answered. Could someone please explain what "pending" awards means? Someone has plastered that word in a bunch of awards tables. I've seen awards designated as "nominated" or "won", which makes perfect sense. But how can an award be pending? Has the person won it but just hasn't been formally presented it? Or is this just an editor's wishful thinking that the person might be nominated for it?

It means an artist has been nominated for the particular award but the results have not been given yet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.153.162.147 (talk) 21:57, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for you response, but sorry, that does little to answer the question. What is the difference between the designation "Nominated" and the designation "Pending". Why do we need a "Pending" designation if "Nominated" (which has been used much longer on Wikipedia) means the same thing. Another problem I have is that often the term "Pending" is used when there is no formal nomination process (such as People's Choice Awards). It makes no sense. My suspicion is that this is a confabulated term often used by editors who are hopeful that someone will receive an award. Cresix (talk) 03:48, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
I have always found the "pending" template as disruptive and fancrufty. WP is not a paper encyclopedia that announces the list of winners and stuff. — Legolas (talk2me) 03:54, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
"Pending" is defined by dictionary.com as "remaining undecided; awaiting decision or settlement; unfinished" - as in, the results are unknown until the awards ceremony takes place. It's preferable to using "nominated" because "nominated" implies a loss (when the results aren't even known). –Chase (talk / contribs) 04:00, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
I completely agree with both Legolas and Chasewc91, but why do we have the {{Pending}} template that I've seen used in some tables? Cresix (talk) 04:06, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
The same reason we have the won and nominated templates - to denote the result of the award nomination, or lack thereof. –Chase (talk / contribs) 04:11, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
So if I understand this correctly, if an editor adds "Pending" to an award and the performer has not been nominated, I can remove it? I've seen dozens of cases where "Pending" was used with no evidence of nomination. As I said, I think it's simply hopeful fans adding the word when it should not be there. Cresix (talk) 04:14, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes. Pending is not for fans' predictions of nominations, it's for current nominations where the result is yet to be revealed. –Chase (talk / contribs) 04:16, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Cresix (talk) 04:32, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

(←) Cresix, I noticed this edit summary and as has been explained above, "pending" is for current nominations that are yet to be revealed. "Nominated" implies that she did not win. "Pending" is preferable for current nominations and will be changed accordingly after the AMAs and PCAs take place. –Chase (talk / contribs) 21:24, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

OK, I misunderstood. Thanks. Cresix (talk) 21:52, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

VMAs - should "Video Phone" nominations remain?

All of the major websites, including MTV, who airs the show, say that in 2010, Gaga had 13 VMA nominations. Take away the nods for "Video Phone" - "Bad Romance" and "Telephone"'s combined nods add up to 13. Clearly, most major sources and MTV themselves do not consider these nominations as ones for Gaga, otherwise they would report 18 nominations. So should we not get rid of these nominations that aren't even considered Gaga's by MTV? –Chase (talk / contribs) 20:31, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

I kinda agree, but then we'll have to change it for ALL other artists.--HusseinIED (talk) 09:55, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Emmy Awards

  Resolved

Should only one Emmy nomination be included for Lady Gaga? She's definitely a nominee for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special as the executive producer and main performer of it, but obviously she isn't the one who has the nomination for Lighting Design, Directing, Picture Editing, or Technical Direction, as the nominee packet makes perfectly clear. Thus, should those awards be listed on her page? If anything, I think that they should be on the special's article (if there's any) or on the tour's article itself. What do others think? --Andresg770 (talk) 16:27, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

I was just about to rush here to say that! I agree completely. Seeing as the special is nominated for Emmys, I think this warrants the creation of Lady Gaga Presents: The Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden, a separate piece from The Monster Ball Tour. The latter is already full of information as it is. Stephenjamesx (talk) 21:47, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

how can i get a free licensed photo? Which site is it possible? Raulkul (talk) 03:28, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
Normally you can ask the copyright holder of the photo if he/she would allow the photo to be released freely to Wikipedia. Other than that you can also search in Flickr.com, they have free photos sometimes. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 06:03, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
IndianBio I found a picture on Flickr, can you change it to us? I don't know how to upload photos on Wiki. https://www.flickr.com/photos/56350247@N02/16480454542/ Chasewc91 and SNUGGUMS if you could do this too, it would be very nice! thank u Raulkul (talk) 00:55, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
@Raulkul: as explained before, please see whether it is a free licensed image or not. This image clearly shows "(c) All rights reserved" beneath the date, and the uploader itself is not an owner of the photo. It is authored to "Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images". Until and unless you can obtain an e-mail from him that he has agreed to release the photo to free license and send that confirmation to WP:OTRS, then this cannot be used. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 05:27, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
@IndianBio: I've found his email. Could u please contact him, because you know what to ask and the way to share this email with WP:OTRS? I have no idea how to do this, but I think it's very nice and important because that image is too old and a Grammy photo would be great! Can u? His email is: frazer@frazerharrisonphotography.com!!! Thanks Raulkul (talk) 05:47, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it.

After major changes, like new lead, new column for references, fixed, added and changed all sources, added new awards and fixed some old ones... I think it's time to remove this tag. All the most important and biggest awards are here. What do you think? I also wanna ask why some tables are bigger/larger than others? GagaNutellatalk 01:05, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

GagaNutella that notification was placed because the list was not complete of course. But instead of removing it, we can replace it by {{dynamic list}} template, since this list is dynamic and will always continue to change as time progresses and Gaga acquires more awards, which duh she will. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 04:20, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
@IndianBio: Great! By the way, can you answer my second question? GagaNutellatalk 04:29, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
That is because it takes the length of the content that you are writing in the table boxes. The content length is not same, hence table length is also not same. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 04:59, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Notes

After many researches, I concluded that is important to have a note section about Special awards. First of all, let's take a look at this FL list. Now let's think. Take Guinness as an example, Gaga obviously wasn't nominated for Most Weeks on US Hot Digital Songs Chart or Most Followers on Twitter. Another example, very recent, Songwriters Hall of Fame. Of course there was a previous discussions, but she wasn't nominated for Contemporary Icon Award, I mean, she couldn't even lose this award, because it's a Special Award(totally dedicated to her). She won it, and many others, because she deserves, not for a nomination. That's why I will bring back the notes (Special awards do not have a prior nomination.). If you don't agree, please leave here your comment, but really, I think this is something that only has the purpose of enriching the article. I don't see any problem on it, which is a detail, but a detail that makes a difference! Thank you GagaNutellatalk 16:28, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

The Ariana Grande list that you are talking about, I took the list to FL. When this was written and became an FL, it was like one award = one nomination regardless of an award being a special one and having no prior nomination. You see it confuses the readers that how come it is (let's take the Guinness one as an example) that she has won 13 awards out of 0 nomination? Either you have an infobox like one award = one nomination or just simply have a picture of hers like this, which is also an FL. -- Frankie talk 19:05, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
I think just the picture looks very poor. I would like to know more opinions about it to come to a conclusion. For now, let's keep with it and then we decide together. GagaNutellatalk 19:27, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
I believe there is a consensus on one award = one nomination (see this; the last lines) as recently I was able to write a featured list with a similar format – List of awards and nominations received by Taylor Swift. -- Frankie talk 21:11, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
I liked that note. Maybe we should do the same, but with some changes. What do you think about?
"Special Awards, such as, ACE Awards, ADL Awards, Big Women Of The Year Award, BMI Awards, CFDA Fashion Awards, Guinness World Records, Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and Songwriters Hall of Fame do not have a prior nomination and only award winners are announced by the jury. For simplification and to avoid errors, each award in this list has been presumed to have had a prior nomination." GagaNutellatalk 23:13, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
That's what I think, too. -- Frankie talk 23:58, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
Done I've just edited. Now I think we finished it too. GagaNutellatalk 00:12, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
Another thing, we need the infobox to be updated also, like the Madonna and Taylor Swift award articles. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 04:43, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

I shall do this, very soon. -- Frankie talk 06:55, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

Do you guys think is really necessary to show ALL the awards on the infobox? What about leave it whit only the main/biggest awards, like is now? GagaNutellatalk 10:40, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
No way! Cherry-picking certain aspects isn't a good idea. We should take FLs as an example, and none of them do what you are suggesting, Gaga. Infobox counts the total number of awards and nominations received by someone. And if we select specific awards, it won't be WP:NPOV. -- Frankie talk 11:18, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
I didn't know that, I tought it was something for figuration. GagaNutellatalk 11:25, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello. I really agree with others that the current photo of the article is really out-dated. 2009 is history now. I searched a lot for free photographs and was disappointed to find very less results. Finally I found a photo of Gaga from the 2015 Grammys. The link is https://www.flickr.com/photos/137511834@N03/22904769534/in/dateposted-public/ ... •   Not done: Sorry to have to say but it looks like the person that uploaded that image to flickr did something called flickr washing. See this link on Commons for more details. According to this source that also uses the image it belongs to Getty Images and is probably not a free use image. Removal of World Music Awards

There was a discussion regarding said award, but unfortunately I don't quite recall. Since 2014, the World Music Awards have been nominating hundreds of candidates from around the world and every day they add new nominees in each category. Also, there is no reliable source for the award, which explicitly lists winners and nominees. What say @GagaNutella and IndianBio:? -- Frankie talk 18:16, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

I don't agree with this edit [3]. First of all, International Dance Music Awards is in its 31st edition, I mean, that's huge! The other award is an award given by the Grammy Museum, don't you guys think a honor from Grammy Museum isn't important? I have reverted SNUGGUM's removal of the awards, completely disagree with his reasoning. —IB [ Poke ] 12:46, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Emmy 2017

Hey, what do you guys think about it? GagaNutellatalk 18:16, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Given that the source says that Gaga is nominated as the performer, I believe we can add the Outstanding Special Class Program nomination. Great news. – FrB.TG (talk) 18:53, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
I agree. I think we can add it! GagaNutellatalk 04:07, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
Yup now we can. —IB [ Poke ] 05:20, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
