B class assessment edit

I've just assessed this article as start class for the following reasons:

  • I think that the use of 'airborne' in the article's title is a bit confusing, as the list includes air landing battalions and the glider regiment alongside parachute battalions and not all of the SAS battalions are included. I'd suggest including the SAS and tweaking the name of the article to something like 'List of Second World War British airborne and air landing battalions'
  • The dates the battalions were active between should be included as a column in the table
  • While not really relevant to a B class review, I don't see the value of including tiny photos of members of the units in the table Nick-D (talk) 22:36, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
The airlanding battalions and Glider Pilot Regiments were part of the British airborne forces. Hence wearing the maroon beret and the airborne forces patch. The SAS were not really, more of a commando formation and efforts to include them were resisted by the regiments. Images are recommended for Featured lists. Yes, but the title of the article is confusing to people who aren't familiar with this terminology - I was expecting something quite different to what it covered. Given that 11 SAS is covered without any explanatory notes, it seems odd that the other SAS battalions aren't - from the Parachute Regiment (United Kingdom) article it seems that 11 SAS later became 1 Para, so I suspect that this is the cause of my confusion, but the article doesn't specify this. While not relevant to B class, I'd also suggest that you develop a new, and less lengthy, initial paragraph that explains the scope of the article. Article name edit

I have moved it back to the English Second World War - any changes should at least be discussed. Jim Sweeney (talk) 10:37, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
