Something has changed ... edit

This page suggests that downloaded Wii games are indeed part of Virtual Console. Therefore, should this content (at least in North America) be merged back into that article? --McDoobAU93 16:03, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Pages for Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Super Mario Galaxy and Trauma Team all do mention a Virtual Console connection. Mistakes? Wii titles are still treated separately in Japan and PAL regions, however.

By the way, I still don't get why references (to many different gaming sites) must be included in this article! Even though there is no official North American page for Wii titles on Wii U VC, these references are still not needed. Ratengo (talk) 12:29, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm fine either way on whether its a stand-alone article or merged into another related list. Its worth tracking somewhere, but either location is fine to me. I'm a strong proponent of there being individual sources though - partially because it helps make it easier to maintain/detect fake entries, and partially, well, the basis of Wikipedia is writing according to third party reliable sources, and we need to show its a notable topic - if you don't show that sources cover this sort of thing, you're going to get accusations that we're basically just maintaining a non-notable database for Nintendo or something. Its the standard way - see List of Wii U games, List of PS4 games, List of PlayStation 2 games for PlayStation 4, etc. Sergecross73 msg me 13:42, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think this page should get merged into the Virtual Console page. If you look on the actual Wii U eShop (which will only be around until March 2023), and select Virtual Console, these games are included in that list. In addition, before Nintendo removed all Wii U pages, these Wii game pages indicated they were part of Virtual Console, as noted above. They're still available on the Wayback Machine, for example here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20160316034205/http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/zack-and-wiki-quest-for-barbaros-treasure-wii-u
You can see the Virtual Console logo and the text reads:
"This classic game is part of the Virtual Console service, which brings you great games created for consoles such as NES™, Super NES™ and Game Boy™ Advance. We hope you’ll enjoy the new features (including off-TV play) that have been added to this title. See more Virtual Console games for Wii U."
That sounds a lot like Nintendo considers these part of the Virtual Console. Adamical (talk) 18:31, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

confusing grammar edit

Can someone explain and then edit this?

are not branded as Virtual Console, except by Nintendo of America.

Grammatically, this says that they are not branded as Virtual Console, unless you go by some listing that Nintendo of America has, in which case, they are. I don't think that is the author's intent. 66.210.125.114 (talk) 13:11, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
