Artists with no page - red links edit

Wikipedia policy is i believe clear on that artist with no pages (thus no asserted notability) should not be cited in a list. should we remove artist with no article??? Joojoo ra I agree. 213.196.208.87 (talk) 13:11, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I removed a few artists that were red linked with no Wikipedia page since it appears most were not notable within their field and possibly a PR generated item. The only artist I left on the list is the one named "Jafar Petgar" because someone took the time to add a citation, however that citation is from his represented gallery - so probably should also get deleted. Categories of Visual Artists edit

Currently this article has a category called "Contemporary Artists", which is a little misleading since many contemporary artists are also painters, sculptures or mixed media artists, etc... Nobody studies contemporary art as a field, and the rest of these listed are fields of study. I am proposing we get rid of the category "Contemporary Artists" and place the artists in other better fitting fields of study and maybe making a section called "mixed media". If you look at other visual arts lists on wikipedia, my suggestion seems to be the current trend. Any timely feedback here on the talk page would be helpful. Inclusion of Hossain Valamanesh (em. Australia)? edit

This is a cross-post from my post on Hossain Valamanesh's Talk Page - apologies in advance. :) Valamanesh was born in Tehran in 1949, raised in Iran, and even educated in the arts at the Tehran School of Art before moving to Australia in 1973, already in his mid-twenties. His works are highly regarded internationally and he has spoken about the influence of his birthplace and his Iranian cultural upbringing in his works; it is my opinion that his inclusion in the List of Iranian Artists would be both accurate and respectful (unless anyone has information or conviction to the contrary, to which I would certainly demur). His name in the list could be accompanied by the parenthesis '(Australia)' to indicate his emigration. I have edited a thesis on Valamanesh's works, but that, and a subsequent love of his art, is the limit of my expertise, although the author of that thesis is a Curator at the National Gallery of Australia and is my best friend (and personal artistic advisor ;) ) and we have spoken about Valamanesh at length on many occasions, so I learn more and more about him through these mini-lectures and our shared excursions to see his works and speak with the curators and procurers involved. My love of Valamanesh's work has led me to explore and discover a love of other Iranian artists, and perhaps his inclusion in this article would allow readers to more-easily make the same logical and accurate connection. Thank you for your consideration. :) Charlie Sanders (talk) 04:03, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hossein Valamanesh was added, please in the future, add the person you wish to the list with a reliable citation. Jooojay (talk) 01:07, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
