Picture edit

I've not met him but that picture bears no resemblance to other pictures. The previous image is still cached here [1] which is the one he used on his MySpace page. I don't know if this is a young Sharp or if someone is pulling our leg (perhaps another Liam Sharp thought it'd be a wheeze to put his picture here) but if it is the former you wouldn't find the main image on Grant Morrison showing him youthful with a shock of hair and we really need to reflect how he looks today. Hi there! It is indeed an old picture of me, from I'm guessing about 18 years ago, when I still had hair. I'd love to change this too. I'm just not sure how to! If anybody can explain how I can upload a new image please let me know. This is Liam Sharp by the way. Cheers! 82.18.196.74 (talk) 11:25, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Mamtorlogo.jpg edit

Image:Mamtorlogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hi. Just wondering if use of the Mam Tor logo is fair use now the page has been significantly updated? (Thanks, and great job to those who were involved BTW. :))

SCALE QUESTIONS? edit

Hi guys. Just looking at the scale - rated C, and, ahem, low grade... LOL! I wonder, now it's been so updated and is REALLY comprehensive, if that isn't a little harsh on the guy who brought all this info together (as well as me! Yeah, I know... nothing personal, and it's not about promotion or anything. but purely on the merit of its content, and the fact that I 100% authenticate its accuracy, I'd hope it might be rated at least a little higher...

Just a thought!

Cheers.

Oh, one more thing - any suggestion what I can add or do to make this better? Might it help to put some art up?

Thaks.

Ah, just found out where you request a grade. We'll see... :) I'm such a Ludite!

  • I'll throw open the floor on this one. What would help the article would be if you could point us to some critical discussions of your work in any magazines or whatever, we might be able to track them down, so that we can get quotes and sales figures and descriptions and reception. I think that's what it needs more than anything, expansion on the finer points. With apologies, we also need to better cite all the facts beyond "hey, Liam told us its true so there". It's to protect both us and you. Looking at it I think some of it we can cite to your myspace page, but you may want to think about expanding that so all the personal details like schooling can get cited there, unless you have somewhere else you can point us to? Never fear Liam - I've not forgotten you (I just got busy elsewhere and caught up in other things here).
I started taking notes a few months back and am planning on clearing some time to do a complete rewrite: expanding it and sourcing it (at the end of last year I did quite a bit of looking around for sources and reading and am confident I can fully source most things). So it should be easy enough to get this to a B (and possibly further as I see the book on Marvel UK might be coming out giving us another solid source). I will throw in more thoughts on your talk page and there are things I'd want to add which I can't find a source for (like the rumours that Gears of War sold half a million copies, making it the biggest seller of last year - it also makes for an interesting "story" as Death's Head shifted similar numbers back in the day).
Anyway I'll brush off my notes and then see what needs doing and I'll fire off a few questions (as you've already helped clarify a few things for me, which is a real help). (Emperor (talk) 18:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC))Reply

Hi there.

Would like to bring your attention to www.madefire.com, which has launched very successfully and is, I think, worthy of inclusion. I note that the fact I have participated in the information on this page might be considered a conflict of interest, but it's an important - probably the most important - part of my career to date. Still feel like the 'C' grade is a bit harsh!

Best,

Can I suggest that Wikipedia articles about people generally don't go into so much detail about their hobbies, childhood etc., especially not in the lead section? Some of the content of this article belongs in the your user page rather than here. Also words like "fatefully" might not be judged as neutral or "encyclopedic." No one can say it isn't comprehensive though! Richard75 (talk) 15:28, 9 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
