I've added the city infobox template, with the information filled in. If someone has a skyline picture, we can add that too.

Fair use rationale for Image:Leominster flag.jpg

edit

Image:Leominster flag.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notable residents

edit

jibisol, presumably John Bisol, has added himself to the list of notable residents. He does appear to be a published author, at least on lulu.com. Perhaps he's now notable because he's in the list of notable residents? Snezzy (talk) 13:52, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The list of supposedly notable residents has grown further. Who among us has actually heard of Jane Dubzinski, Mistress Carrie, Joshua Vicente, Jeremy Vicente, Matt Kelly, Tim Hartigan, Ronny Le Blanc, or Adam H. McNally? What makes these people encyclopedic? I propose we eliminate them. Umm, I mean remove their names.

Snezzy (talk) 06:11, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just removed most of the "notable" persons, those who do not have a wiki page. Doubtless some of them ought to be restored. Please add a note suggesting a justification for each, and consider generating a proper Wikipedia page if the notable personage lacks one. Snezzy (talk) 03:36, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I researched these individuals further. Apparently "Jane Dubzinski" is an educator in the local school system, of no particular note. "Mistress Carrie" is a radio DJ but lacks a discreet wiki and does not appear to meet any criteria for notability. "Joshua Vicente" was completely anonymous to google searches, etc. "Jeremy Vicente" (presumably Joshua's brother) was a camera operator in a low budget film listed on IMDB. "Matt Kelly" is a bay area musician with no apparent relationship to Leominster, MA. "Tim Hartigan" is apparently a local music promoter, does not meet WP:NOTE. No verifiable information was available on "Ronny Le Blanc." "Adam H. McNally" also was anonymous to google. Any futher inclusions of these individuals should probably be regarded as vandalism. thescimitar (talk) 11:43, 3 October 2008 (UTC)thescimitarReply

One more has appeared, Crystal Nowlan. Also, Matt Kelly is back. I'll let them mellow for a while and then delete them if they are merely the self-promotion they appear to be. If Matt Kelly is really notable for Leominster, let's see some evidence. Snezzy (talk) 17:33, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Removed Nowlan and Chagnon, alphabetized Kelly. Snezzy (talk) 01:26, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Shopping Plazas and Malls

Badly arranged as a two-level bullet list. Is this list even encyclopedic? Why is it here? Snezzy (talk) 01:26, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation

edit

Is it pronounced "Lemster", like the one in England, or as it's written? Rojomoke (talk) 21:14, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Neither actually, it's pronounced as if the "o" doesn't exist. LEM-in-ster. capitalist (talk) 00:17, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Foster Grant

edit

The status of Mr. Grant in the company is unclear. He seems to have been with the company only for two months, but also to have been a long-standing force in the company. He also has an incomplete sentence:

"Mr. Grant quickly turning Foster Grant into one of the leading plastic manufacturers in the country."

Clearly additional research is needed. Snezzy (talk) 17:12, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dean Mazzarella Page

edit

I've created a draft of a page for Mayor Dean Mazzarella: Draft:Dean J. Mazzarella

He is currently serving his 16th term and is the longest currently serving mayor in Massachusetts.

Think this would be noteworthy? CBEARWiki (talk) 04:10, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
