Inadequate sourcing

edit

It's not satisfactory that this quite long article is entirely sourced to one book which could conceivably be biased, even though writer Tony Reeves has a generally good reputation. There must plenty about McPherson on the public record and in newspapers, etc. It's not right that a Wikipedia article should appear as a précis of one person's viewpoint, and the content should be greatly pruned down until a better variety of sourcing is provided. Agreed. This article needs a lot of work BrianFG (talk) 12:22, 20 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reference checking needed, please.

edit

At the end of the section 'Murder of Joseph Hackett, 1959' I'm removing the following which seems very confused: Before the trial could go ahead, however, the matter was "no-billed" by State Attorney-General Reg Downing([Robert Downing was a member of the NSW Legislative Council (1940-1972). Minister of Justice (1941-1960)then The NSW Attorney General (1956-1965) Reginald Downing Lived in Gladesville "No Bill" in 1959*).

I've replaced it (pro-tem) with Before the trial could go ahead, however, the matter was "no-billed" by the State Attorney-General.

At the same time, I've reverted an IP edit which makes 'Stan "The Man" Smith' into a "a psychotic gunman and Boxer (sic)" rather than "a psychotic gunman and drug addict". I don't have the source book to check, but that just can't be right. Will someone with access to the book please check out both of these issues? The book is Reeves, Tony; Mr Big: The True Story of Lenny McPherson and his life of crime (Allen & Unwin, Sydney, 2005). Cheers Bjenks (talk) 10:12, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Lenny or Lennie

edit

It has here spelled Lenny but on several television shows he is featured in (Underbelly, Families of Crime, etc.) he is listed as Lennie McPherson, which is the correct spelling?
