editMy impression is that Lanford Monroe has ties to Huntsville, Alabama, and Alabama in general. Certainly many of her paintings reflect the state, its beauties, its locales and lighting. I also have heard that she died during, or because of, a horseback riding incident in New Mexico where she lived at the end of her life.
