ladle for skimming foam off? edit

In Dutch theres the word "schuimspaan" which is basically a flat ladle with holes in it, used to take of fthe foam when making a bouillon for example. Is that also a "ladle" in English?

see http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schuimspaan

The associated english article is slotted spoon, which makes more sense. A ladle is more specifically a bowl on the end of a longer handle for conveniently scooping (ladling) soup or stew into smaller portions (bowls). 99.243.69.140 (talk) 19:18, 5 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

or better yet, skimmer

"Extremely Smart" edit

I object to the statement that ladle can be "extremely smart." I've known a great number of ladles in my day, and I could rarely get them to much more than primary school arithmetic. I would, in fact, say that they are entirely dumb, to use similarly precise language. 128.170.224.13 (talk) 14:44, 25 June 2010 (UTC) DONT WORRY LADLE WE DIDNT FORGET YOU T.TReply

"Lasagne?" edit

I have never heard of a ladle being used to serve lasagne, at least not in the United States. Unmasked (talk) 13:50, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
