Parents edit

"Kengo was born in Libenge, Équateur province, Belgian Congo (later Zaire and now Democratic Republic of Congo)."

There needs to be a reference for this.

"He was the son of a Polish Jewish father and a Rwandan Tutsi mother.[4][5]"

This is confusing. The references point to "the Jews of the Congo", but the edit says his father was Polish. Who was his father? Polish Jewish is not a nationality. Should it read "ethnically Jewish"? About being Jewish - that could mean anything. It needs another reference.

Then the reference to his mother being of Rwandan nationality, or ancestry, or a mix, leads to an article about Rwandans who migrated to Congo - but it doesn't refer to Wa Kengo's mother. In fact, you could just say it's generally believed that his parents were such and such. "He changed his name to Kengo wa Dondo in 1971 during Mobutu's Africanization (Authenticité) campaign."

This also needs referencing.

My dad used to confuse a few people in our home town of Middlesbrough. They were invariably called Brown or Robinson. To excuse the confusion he'd say, "Well, they're all Polish!" It turned out, on further investigation, that one was Lithuanian, another, Hungarian, another, Polish and another Czech. They were born in those countries. Others had grandparents from those ethnic areas (when they were included in other countries). So, Wa Dondo's parentage remains obscure (and unreferenced) . In the French version, also unreferenced, his grandmother is said to be Rwandan. His mother was born in the Congo to this Rwandan woman and her Congolese husband - making her half-rwandan but Congolese by birth. Francis Hannaway (talk) 16:17, 19 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
