Infobox names edit

user:Ymblanter, would you please add your opinion of the latest edits of the names in the infobox? I thought I had created version that covered the disputed name and official languages without positical bias. It was reverted by an editor that followed me from edits and a dispute at talk:Kyiv. In my opinion the current version is inconsistent and unbalanced. CC: User:Fyunck(click) Michael Z. 2019-11-26 20:34 z

The name here is not even disputed. The law only comes in force if/when Crimea gets back under the control of Ukraine. But, generally, the infoboxes for Ukrainian localities were incrementally built up as a result of very difficult process of finding consensus. I would not recommend touching them without individual discussions, I have seen too many edit-wars for completely bogus subjects which people apparently take way more seriously than they deserve.--Ymblanter (talk) 20:39, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Okay. So it sounds like you’re not expressing any opinion about which names should be in the infobox. Thanks. Michael Z. 2019-11-27 03:56 z
I am personally fine with any reasonable combination, I think to be honest there are more important issues on Wikipedia.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:24, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please discuss before moving article to Yani Kapu edit

Please discuss before moving article to Yani Kapu. What Ukraine wants means nothing at Wikipedia. We need heaps of English sources that tell us what the proper spelling will be here. Fyunck(click) (talk) 23:11, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

"De-occupation" edit

@Altenmann: It is true that "deoccupation" has been used in mainly (more recent) Ukrainian sources and as a translation of "деоккупация" but I do not think it has established usage in English, it might be confusing to some readers. For example, I cannot find it in major dictionaries. Thanks. Mellk (talk) 17:28, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have already swlf-reverted, because I noticed the same. (I forgot the linguistic term for "pseudo-English" words; in Japan there is a term wasei-eigo, but it is for pseudo-anglicisms in Japanese). - Altenmann >talk 17:32, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK, understandable. Thanks. Mellk (talk) 17:33, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
