Untitled edit

Hey anybody know why the medal was awarded by the united kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland? Considering that union is stated in the linked article to have ended in 1921 yet the medal was awarded in 1950's.

Ribbon in infobox edit

I realise this may seem to be a trivial matter for this article alone, but in the wider scope of articles on honours, decorations, and medals in general, the placement of the ribbon in the infobox seems to be causing some conflict. Xdamr, you said on my talk page that it is a "convention" to place the ribbon along with the main image in the top field of the infobox. However, my survey of the various articles on honours, decorations, and medals for Australia and the UK shows me that 90% of the time it was either you or PalawanOz who placed the ribbon in that location, while in all US medal articles and Canadian ones where there was before I started editing them already a ribbon image present, the ribbon is/was placed at the bottom of the infobox. Further, it is only British and Australian medals and decorations that have this near-consistency of top-placed images, while all articles on orders have the ribbon in the inbox's lower field. So, this page seems to be at a cross-point between two conflicting formats. I'm not sure if either is wrong, per say - Template:Infobox military award only says that ribbon pictures may be put in the top field - which leaves me at a loss as to what to do as a resolution. Do all the Canadian articles get changed? Are all order articles to be different to decoration and medal pages? Do we suffer with inconsistency? Whatever is done, I would rather not see the latter. --Ħ MIESIANIACAL 21:10, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Award to Korean Nationals serving in British units edit

Hi,

I just wondered if KATCOM soldiers were also awarded this medal? If so, they deserve a mention in the article too. --Brigade Piron (talk) 14:42, 28 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amendments and some restructuring edit

I have made a number of amendments, in particular:

  • Laying out the three types of obverse. This has involved some reordering and restructuring of the text under ‘Design’.
  • Amended detailed eligibility from ‘Canadian Armed Forces’ to ‘British and Commonwealth armed forces’ as eligibility appears to have been the same irrespective of nationality (Page 259 of British Battles and Medals by Joslin, Litherland and Simpkin confirms).

Grateful for views on this.
